Programs may also consider adapting their curriculum to address the
parenting practices that resonate with fathers, as well as helping
parents understand the benefits
of other
types of father involvement for their child.
With a current private
practice and past experience as a psychologist in a university counseling center, I have a lot
of experience working on
parenting issues with these
types of families.
Otherwise stated,
parenting style, broader in nature, might dictate or at the very least inform ways to most effectively intervene (promote certain
practices) with different
types of parents.
Thus, even in cases where
parents feel a lack
of social support for
parenting, this could be compensated by other
types of appropriate
parenting practices.
