Some have been trapped by local animal control jurisdictions, some have been surrendered to local shelters by their owners but are considered
unadoptable as «house
cats» due to lack of socialization (often times
from hoarding situations where there were too many
cats to socialize and care for).
TNR also keeps
cats from being killed simply because they are unsocialized to humans and therefore
unadoptable.
From March 2010 to June 2014, 385
cats (3.4 %) were euthanized as a healthy feral, but
unadoptable, out of the total 11,423 healthy feral
cats impounded alive at the shelter.

cats might work best in a garage or shed near the home, or in a barn where they will get some attention
