We were talking about the soldiers wearing their uniforms in a relaxed,
unbuttoned way when they were «off duty», but somehow I doubt they ever wore them over a dress.

Let's start with the easiest
way there is to pull of one of these versatile shirts, and the most comfortable: simply take a black or dark coloured grandad collar shirt — try this Mackson shirt, slip it over a plain white tee and some jeans or chinos, and leave it

I think it all comes down to the styling... make sure the shirt is either tucked in front or all the
way around so that you see your waist at least a little bit, roll or cuff the sleeves to gather some of the fabric, and
unbutton from the top down a little more than you normally would to show a bit more skin.

(A note about the photo above: we tried to talk the boys into rolling up their sleeves and
unbuttoning their shirts a little (they had cute t - shirts on underneath), but I think both of them were used to wearing their button - up shirts that
way at school, so that's the
way they wanted to wear them with us, too.
