My Scirocco easily wins the award for the farthest - traveled attendee, and the other Scirocco owners spend an hour poring over differences between the U.S. and German - specification cars, differences so minute — like the small strip of chrome on my door panels or the hook inexplicably welded to
the underside of the hood — that I hadn't noticed them in fifteen years of ownership.
It's cute that Mitsubishi saved a buck or two by excluding
the underside of the hood from the car's Infrared paint, but it looks unfinished.
Orange peel must be consistent throughout the exterior body panels, jambs, and
underside of hood, decklid, etc..
The underside of the hood has an exposed carbon - fiber - weave.
If you are using a hooded box, do not forget to clean
the underside of the hood.

Another clever bit
of air management: the textured «curlicue»
undersides of the front side strakes, which take the air brought in from the
hood vents to cool the brakes and «roll» it down the side
of the car; by reducing the high - pressure area at the back
of the wheel arch, the strakes decrease front lift and increase grip.
