children and families to talk
about their experiences of domestic violence and
abuse, to
understand the effects on their lives and relationships, and to develop and strengthen positive relationships based on equality and respect.
The topics covered in this training will include: Openness, State Laws, ICPC, ICWA,
understanding the experience of expectant parents and preparing for first conversations, discipline, talking with
children about adoption, and sexual
abuse.

Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, includes original research into how Jacksonville residents currently think and talk
about children's issues, and how the public conversation might be reframed to include a more scientific
understanding of the social determinants of
child wellbeing.
The topics that will be covered in this curriculum include an overview of kinship care and parental substance
abuse; introduction to alcohol, other drugs, and addiction; caregiver feelings;
understanding and supporting the
child; talking
about substance
abuse with
children; caregiver relationships with birthparents; maintaining a safe home; supporting the parent -
child relationship; and accessing support.
Review the
child's exposure to emotional
abuse in the family and provide education
about the parameters of abusive experiences (causes, characteristics, and consequences) in order to help
child and caregiver better
understand the context in which they occurred.
We
