It bears remembering that these are not the first major cases to identify
an unfair system of public education that is directly responsible for gaps in achievement in our state.

This case is different because a court has decided that it's not only
unfair funding statutes that can render a
public education system unconstitutionally discriminatory and unjust:

Malloy's unwavering commitment to the Common Core, the absurd Common Core testing scheme and the
unfair and inappropriate teacher evaluation
system has rightfully earned him the ridicule
of parents, teachers and
public education advocates across the state.
In her commentary piece last week,
public education advocate Wendy Lecker returned to the issue
of Governor Dannel Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman's
unfair, inappropriate and fundamentally flawed teacher evaluation
system.
Even the AFT and CEA have admitted that Governor Malloy's 2012 Corporate
Education Reform Industry Initiative sought to eliminate tenure for all
public school teachers in Connecticut and replace it with a
system of short - term contracts in which continued employment as a teacher would depend, in part, on the test scores teachers» students got on the
unfair and inappropriate Common Core Standardized Tests.
Rather than use that vehicle to speak out about the misuse
of standardized testing, CABE and CAPPS signed onto a political agenda that failed to even mention the word testing let alone articulate a position about why the overuse
of standardized testing is
unfair, discriminatory and is damaging our children and our
system of public education.
Hopefully Teacher Benham will use her classroom expertise to persuade Malloy and the State Board
of Education that while standards are an important part
of a successful educational
system, the Common Core «s
unfair, inappropriate and expensive Common Core Testing Scheme is hurting Connecticut's students, teachers and
public schools and must be suspended until it can be redesigned and appropriately implemented.
