Ten years after I first dipped my toe into the roiling waters of school
food reform, I continue to hear parents complain about
unhealthy food and
food practices at school, even as headlines scream about the childhood obesity epidemic.
The term «fast
food» gets a bad rap — as it's (rightly) associated with mysterious and
unhealthy ingredients and
practices.
Some responses simply referred to eating healthy and
unhealthy foods without specifying a feeding

It seems intuitive to use pressure to increase children's consumption of healthy
foods, and restriction to reduce their consumption of
unhealthy foods, but these feeding
practices may actually induce the opposite of the intended effect.
