I loved facing off against the variety of
unique boss encounters as this is where Mighty No. 9 comes closest to reaching the spiritual successor status it claims to achieve.
For what it did have, the first two expansions did have one or two
unique boss encounters and Friends to the End had a special environment exclusive to itself.
Not exact matches
Ignoring minion monster placement and where
boss monsters come in when coming from another area, each
encounter is
unique.
The character design of the
bosses aren't quite up to par with Dark Souls, although there are some truly
unique and visually stunning
encounters peppered throughout; the main issue is that many
boss encounters generally feature some generic faceless hulk clad in armour rather than a lumbering giant or a bipedal ogre.
Harking back to the golden era of 2D platformer
boss encounters, these battles all feel exhilarating and intense, even the quick time event segments, and are sufficiently varied enough to make each one feel fresh and
unique despite relying on similar mechanics.
Along the way the Dragon brothers will
encounter 10
unique enemies (some with multiple skins like in Neon), and eventually face the gun - toting
boss Willy and possibly another mystical threat or two.
The five
bosses that I
encountered were all
unique but I had little if any trouble with them.
None of the
boss encounters are particularly imaginative or challenging — a shame, considering the
unique, historical personalities that end up looking down the business end of your six - shooter.
I enjoyed how each

Fans will traverse through immensely detailed levels and

The airborn
boss battle seemed unlike a lot of other KH
boss battles to this point and now it looks like that won't be the only
unique encounter coming to KH3.
