How I see Mario Party is that the series continues to throw more diversity to our playtime, since one day we could choose the 3rd one, other days the 5th one and so on (minus the 8th, we do nt
like it that much), but that wouldnt be possible if they all were to be the SAME, every single one has a new twist inside it, wether it is the items, the board
gimmicks, the microphone or the lates 9th instament that has changed alot (but its still fun as hell) that makes it
unique and worth a note.
Fights can stop to let a car drive past, and many battles have
unique elements
like barriers, explosives, or
gimmicks like escaping or, er, sitting fire to Towelie's weed stash to make him less aggressive.
All of its enemies have
unique gimmicks that give it a puzzle -
like nature.
See, these boss fights all have
unique gimmicks (
like the enemies using battle cards against you, or them attacking each other when they mess up a counter attack, or you having to defend against them before any chance to fight back), and they're all pretty damn hard to complete.
The fact that Nintendo themselves don't know what to do with their hardware speaks volumes, and although the game is a core, traditional platformer that many could argue wouldn't benefit from any gamepad «
gimmicks», I think it's simply lazy and would
like to have seen some
unique features that enhanced the gameplay — and more importantly, helped to differentiate Tropical Freeze from its predecessor and peers (I mean, just look at Rayman Legends).
The game takes place over 40 stages designed
like the «Challenge Rooms» of other games, and each level usually has a tiny
gimmick to its design or theme that makes it
unique, so you're always challenged to use your existing skillset in new ways.
Despite the fact that Ristar doesn't have a lot of different types of levels (everything's a platforming level; there are no special racing or shooting segments
like its inspirations) each one retains a very
unique feel; many stages have
unique gimmicks aside from simply reaching the end of the level that keeps the game fresh.
Expect to take on hordes of enemies in various locations from the Fire Emblem series
like Hoshido Castle, using a variety of characters that each have their own
unique movesets and
gimmicks.
Technical weapons that trade speed for power by utilizing their
unique gimmicks,
like the Charge Blade.
Like other fabled retail outlets — Costco, Trader Joe's, IKEA — it comes with weird built - in tics,
gimmicks, and oddities that seem designed by a marketing department to imprint a
unique personality on the company.
