They are nothing more than
units of chemical reactions and a steel cross will not impact the rate or quality of such chemical reactions in any way.

Toward High School Biology — Developed with support from the U.S. Department
of Education's Institute
of Education Sciences and in partnership with BSCS, AAAS Project 2061 has developed and tested an innovative eight - week curriculum
unit designed to integrate physical and life science concepts to help middle school students understand
chemical reactions and their role in the growth and repair
of living organisms.
To help make ideas about energy more concrete, for example, the new
unit will use a variety
of analogies from more familiar physical systems (e.g., combustion and charging a cellphone battery) to help students understand those same energy - releasing and energy - requiring
chemical reactions and energy transfer when they occur in living organisms (e.g., cellular respiration, creating a charge across a membrane in mitochondria and nerve cells) where the
reactions are more complex and difficult to observe.
The study notes that narrowing down that percent range requires particle accelerator experiments on water ice to more accurately gauge the number
of chemical reactions that result per
unit of energy deposited by cosmic rays and solar energetic particles.
Consistent with recommendations in the Next Generation Science Standards, the new THSB
unit is designed to help students understand and use scientific practices
of reading scientific texts, analyzing and interpreting data, building and using models, and constructing explanations along with a coherent set
of core ideas about
chemical reactions to make sense
of interesting physical and life science phenomena.
In the high school
unit, Roseman noted, similar atomic and molecular models are also used but in conjunction with bar graphs and energy transfer diagrams to help students understand that the energy changes they observe during
chemical reactions are associated with changes in the arrangement
of atoms.
Chemical reactions of small biopolymer sub
units or complex polymer chains under the influence
of traction forces and catalytic nanoparticles could be investigated with this new method.
This will be part
of our
unit on
chemical reactions and mixtures in science class.»
These books supports the teaching
of various topics /
units including: Speed, velocity, acceleration, forces, energy transformations, atomic structure, ionic bonding, covalent bonding, energy resources, states
of matter, magnets, terminal velocity, volume, elements, periodic table, genetic, diseases, floating and sinking, pressure,
chemical reactions, enzymes, cell division, combustion, momentum, smoking and much more....
Homework, practice problems and a multiple choice Exam practice to support the learning
of a
unit on
Chemical Reactions.
The
unit was «student - centered, hands - on, and phenomenon - based in which students explored four
chemical reactions with increasing sophistication with the aim
of helping them acquire a deep understanding
of the target [science] standard / benchmark» (p. 921).
(We used model building at the start
of this
unit hoping to give students a concrete introduction to atoms and molecules before introducing the abstract
chemical language
of chemical reactions.)
