The biggest
unknown about future climate is human behavior.

There are so many
unknowns about climate change that it's impossible to know if a
climate scientist is really an expert, or whether his current theories will be proven completely wrong in the
future.
How
about this question: How many American jobs are you willing to sacrifice now in an attempt to prevent what is still an
unknown amount of
climate change in the
future?
Secondly, to overcome fear of the
unknown, one healthy response is to find out more
about climate change and form a clearer picture of the
future.
But, at the same time, we should concede that until these basic uncertainties are clarified more closely, which may never be possible because of
unknown and hence unquantifiable black swans, we have no meaningful knowledge
about how human CO2 emissions could affect our
climate in the
future.
We'll just have to continue to wait and see what happens, but make no mistake
about it, the fact this conversation is even happening and that the
future of KXL is still
unknown is a huge victory for environmentalists and
climate hawks who want to keep the tar sands «carbon bomb» from detonating.
