unlocking after a certain time, tend to cause more chaos than anything else and take away from the actual racing.

after you've met up with the other playable characters, you can still pursue each character's individual story - you do this by making them the «main» character of your current party
After hitting the enemies a substantial number of
times, the player
unlocks special abilities that can be triggered with triangle, and using a
certain amount of fire or ice magic in succession will allow for an even stronger finishing spell.
The Rush Adapter from Mega Man 6 also returns (this
time as a single power - up instead of two), but now it must be
unlocked by finding four hidden letters in the first four Robot Master stages, instead of merely handed to the player
after completing
certain levels.
The primary benefit here is found if you turn on auto - locking, in which a timer automatically engages the lock
after it's been
unlocked for a
certain amount of
time.
