There's so much to keep you coming back, plus
unlocking gold bricks unlocks the excellent side missions that expand upon the movie's lore.
If you aren't familiar with LEGO games, since LEGO Star Wars in 2005 players would collect a set number of studs per level to fill a stud counter and
unlock a gold brick.

unlock a series of disappointments including a camera, a flashlight and a grapple gun.
Downtime in between levels is spent traipsing around the open world map of Manhattan, performing checkpoint races and hunting down
gold bricks to open up ancillary stages to earn more character
unlocks.

There are lots of additional activities beyond completing the levels comprising of 21 races available in free play mode with participation available via on - foot characters running through a series of gates that dictate the boundaries of the course;
unlocking 102 characters; collecting 220
gold bricks; ancient scrolls are the equivalent of red
bricks including a collectable detector, stud magnet, old movie mode, invincibility, disco mode and much more besides; 9 Dojo challenges; mastering Ninjagility and Spinjitzu by reaching ninja level 20 from collecting lots of LEGO studs and performing just as many combos on enemies; and more besides.
Free play mode allows players to revisit each completed level in any order in an attempt to utilise the skills of each
unlocked character by switching to characters that can not be used during story mode, therefore exploring to find which character's abilities hold the key to progressing beyond a tricky puzzle and finding out if a
gold brick, ancient scroll or character token is hidden beyond it.
With over 15 areas to venture into, full of side missions, more
Gold Bricks to obtain and additional characters to
unlock, there's always something else to do on the road to 100 % completion.

Within the hub you have a large selection of side quests, including car and flight races, to gain more
gold bricks and
unlock extra characters.
Last are the
gold bricks - you need to collect 250 which does sound like a lot, but collecting certain amounts
unlock special
gold brick levels such as Ottegan Assault, Poe To The Rescue and 18 more.
There are lots of additional activities beyond completing the levels comprising of 19 races available in free play mode with participation available via droids, on foot characters or miniature representations of ships; achieving True Avenger status on every level by collecting a specific amount of LEGO studs;
unlocking 205 characters; collecting 180 minikits; collecting 250
gold bricks with a variety of purposes such as collecting 10 to 60
gold bricks within The Force Awakens levels to
unlock new story missions that go beyond the story of The Force Awakens; collecting 35 carbonite
bricks to
unlock characters; purchasing 25 red
bricks to
unlock a variety of extras such as a stud magnet; x2, x4, x6, x8 and x10 multipliers; disco lightsabers that change colour; a collectible detector; and much more besides for a cost ranging from 100,000 to 5,000,000 LEGO studs which are used as a form of in - game currency.
There are small themed hub worlds to explore for
gold bricks and so on with any characters you own in that franchise, but again you can't
unlock everything in them.
There are over 200 characters to
unlock, more than a hangar's worth of vehicles,
gold and yellow
bricks, split - screen cooperative play, and many hidden areas or locked things requiring a second play - through in Free Play to access.
All of these extra mission, such as how Han and Chewie caught the Rathtars, can only be
unlocked well after the main story has been completed and enough
gold bricks are collected.
