Philosophy is made up of some great thoughts whereas scripture is made
up of absolute truth.

absolute truth, it's just a recognition that we might be as confused over things as our kin in the faith who chained
up Bibles, burned the bones
of reformers, tossed bombs into the basements
of black churches and burned crosses on the front yards
of black people, who ignore the plight
of the homeless and the poor while we struggle to decide between the 36 and 72 inch plasma screen tv.
When you grow
up believing that your religious worldview contains the key to
absolute truth and provides an answer to every question, you never really get over the disappointment
of learning that it doesn't.
Since Jesus Christ founded the Catholic Church and placed good men in charge
of it, and because it was the Catholic Church which put the Books
of the Bible in the Bible and coined the word «Bible», and because the Bible tells us that the Church is the pillar and foundation
of Truth, and because these good men [that you refer to as misguided] are the ones ordained and «sent», [just like Jesus was «sent» by the Father], are at the «helm»
of His Church and have the
absolute authority to interpret the Bible, I am so inclined to be ever so thankful that Jesus Christ set it all
up this way so that the burdens and crosses that I may bear will become as light as the yoke that Jesus Christ promised if we are willing to follow him, and not our will be done but His.
At the highest level
of truth, the personal in both man and God is swallowed
up in the impersonal
Absolute.
Whereas the moderns believed in «
truth» so long as it could be scientifically verified, the post-moderns have given
up on
truth altogether and eschew belief in any kind
of absolute.
Jeremy and Glenn — I don't think that Brian would say he doesn't believe in
absolute truth — I could be wrong but I think he would say something like... he doesn't believe that any human has (at least
up to this point) been able to know
absolute truth and that he believes there is a lot more
of absolute truth to be known and that he doesn't believe that it is as narrow or «little» as so many try to make it.
I was thinking
of saying something similar about Brian, but since I have only read a few
of Brian's books, and never met him, I didn't know for sure where he stood on
absolute truth, or some
of the other questions Glenn brought
up.
No sacrifice is involved here, since the body and lower passions given
up are less intense degrees
of being,
truth, and goodness; the
absolute degree
of these things includes the reality
of the lower, and so nothing is truly lost.
All
of them off shoot
of hinduism, denial
of truth absolute, just like any hindu, criminal locked
up in a Jail, united against
truth absolute God, stand no chance.
If anyone reading this is a doer
of the institutional church system, (a man made system, not
of scripture), will not get the
absolute truth of your wrap
up point.
Although we come
up with all kinds
of reasons to deny God's existence he has made his existence abundently clear through our surroundings and the discoveries
of science... when it comes down to it, most in the science community don't like the idea
of a creator because then they'd have to answer to that creator... this reality will keep many from accepting the
Truth found in Jesus (
absolute Truth)...

of course what he done in his first ten years was very much appreciated, I've said many times on here if he'd have left around 2008 he'd have been an
absolute hero with the fans, but his killing his legacy by the day with his stubbornness to face
up to the
truth.
What is
of great consequence is Kevin Harvick will use the perceived grievance as motivation, and if there is an
absolute truth throughout his career it is that an angry Harvick typically
up ends riding roughshod over the opposition and getting the last word.
Humans will never know any
