He demonstrates good link -
up play with his back to goal, knocking one - touch passes into midfield before darting towards the penalty area.
Not exact matches
Bottom line, if he is angered bench the players who were not good enough and
play those who deserve some game time based on the Southampton game or on games where they had a positive impact: - Take Özil out and
play Ox in the hole (he has
to understand your the highest paid player of the club, your given freedom like nobody else and your even seeking even more money
with a new contract you can't
play like that ever and go AWOL)- Put Sanchez on the wing or
up top but put Welbeck in (Walcott didn't track
back near enough for the Alsonso
goal)- Iwobi has been bright from the wing let him
play there - Xhaka has
to go
back in the holding midfield role and I would take out Coquelin because he could've taken a foul on the hazard's
goal.
Honestly if Lacazette is as hard working as everyone says then
with him and Alexis chasing down every ball and our new formation solidifying the
back line and xhaka sure
to improve in his second run in I think this formation
with Alexis and Lacazette using speed
to run off the link
up play of giroud and the balls being
played to all three of them by xhaka and Ozil we would score enough
goals to win any match next season.
It's difficult
to blame Ozil for the difficulties he's faced at Arsenal without looking at the big picture... like the fans, he too was lied
to by Wenger... there is no doubt in my mind that he was told by Wenger that he was trying desperately
to recreate our earlier success by acquiring players that fit the system he ran when Henry was in his prime... as we know this hasn't happened... in order for Ozl
to flourish he needs some speed
up front, forwards that can make intelligent runs, a boss in the midfield
to compensate for his obvious defensive liabilities and defenders who can transition from defence
to offence quickly and efficiently... much like he had in Real and
with the German National squad... unfortunately he ended
up on a squad that has a striker who
plays with his
back to goal, very few intelligent runs into the box, minus Sanchez, no one
to take pressure off him in the midfield, once Cazorla was injured, average defensive midfielders around him, which simply highlighted his lacking defensive qualities and defenders who lack the necessary cutting edge when it comes
to transitional passing... instead of blaming Ozil, which is simply too easy, especially considering his mopey disposition, we should be asking ownership and / or Wenger why they brought him in if they didn't intend on doing what was necessary
to get the best from him... can you imagine Ozil
playing with the likes of Henry, Viera, Petit and Pires, it would be incredibly
to watch and even more difficult
to stop... so the only thing different between his experiences in Real and
with the German team versus his time at Arsenal are the players around him and we all know who is in charge of making those decisions, the Grinch who stole soccer
Vidal is a box
to box he is not a DM and a DM we need... let me put it like this Vidal will try grab glory by getting
goals (much like flamini) we will not take
up true glory like Coquelin who knows his job is not
to attack but
to protect our
back 4... not go for gaols but look hold
up play when we are getting hit
with a counter until the rest of the team get
back into
play... Someone who will get battered and bruised but not lose his temper or cool but instead battle get in good tackles and disturb the opponents Rhythm...
We were
up 10 in the early 4rth and remember the defense giving the offense the ball
back... That was the time in the game when you put your foot on their throats... You
play with all the energy and passion in the world and you put the game out of reach
with a touchdown or even a field
goal... You don't
play not
to loose, you come out aggressive as hell... Come out 5 wides
with grant in the slot or something crazy that theyve never seen the whole game and you shredd their asses... You don't keep it close at that point because Brady will make
plays and refs
to as well
to beat you.
Kentucky did get the ball
back with less than a minute left, and they were able
to get into field
goal range, but a holding call negated a
play that would have set
up an easy game - winning field
goal.
... he
played there against crystal palace, Everton 2 season ago and it was a disaster... our build
up is majorly done closer
to d centre circle than d oppositions box... that's y girouds hold
up play is vital... either we go
with dat path or we look for a striker who is lightning quick (so when we make d final pass, it doesn't get wasted), uses both legs
to shoot on sight,
with good accuracy...
playing Sanchez, who is not very good
with his
back to goal as a 9 is useless and though fast, holds on
to d ball a lot tryn
to get d best angle
to shoot... we need a striker who is very intelligent
with d timing of his runs... too bad Walcott is as intelligent as a sheep, cld have been d perfect cf...
This is an incredibly difficult question
to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of
play has become a shadow of it's former self, only
to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and
play» mentality where players
play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel
to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards
to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the
backs coming
up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems
to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance
play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early
to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency
to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our
backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted
play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs
to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was
playing and his ratio of scored
goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious
to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing -
back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched
played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently
to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow
to ever boss the midfield and he tends
to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball
play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he
played with Coq Wenger always seemed
to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready
to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him
to use Francis and then he had the nerve
to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary
to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed
to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends
to offend, the fact that he's been
played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little
to no sense considering what he has
to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford
to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try
to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent
with the necessary components... in regards
to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair
to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went
to a
back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had
to choose one of those 3 players
to stay on it would be Ox due
to his potential as a plausible alternative
to Bellerin in that wing -
back position should we continue
to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball
up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due
to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem
to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold
to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction
to heroin without the benefits
this window has just finished i am already thinking about who we will get for the january window we might try for khedira on a really low offer as he is free agent almost would help boost numbers in midfield in the new year as we will no doubt need
to filling the numbers about then also i will hold my hands
up and say i was wrong this morning for giving wenger stick and saying welbeck is rubbish i have been out in the cold light of day and had a chance
to reevaluate the situation and realized that this could be a canny shrew transfer on wenger behalf actually if wenger can turn the clock
back and work his magic on welbeck and get him scoring
goals and improve his game then we could have a great underrated signing on our hands its wengers absolute trust in him that might be what makes him a great player as this is something that he never had at old mordor if anybody can make him a world beater wenger can he loves this little pet projects improving players against the odds welbeck has the skillset
to be high class player upfornt he just needs
to work very hard on his finishing i think once he gets a few
goals under his belt he will settle in fine and he is a team player you could put him on the left against man city
to shore
up that side and he will put in a great shift without a complaint that could be his biggest asset
to us or on the right whenever we need him there ithinkwenger might start himon the left against city
to protect the left
back against navas and i bet you if he does a great job we will take a shine
to him quickly i am hopeing he will be one of those wenger gems that he finds and polishes
up to a high finish i must admit i was annoyed as some other gunners were at not signing d / m and c / h but if wenger does win the league
with this lot it will be his greatest win yet and what might
play in
to our hands is the unpredictable nature of the league in the last few seasons if we get on a good run at the right time we might be hard
to stop look at city they should have never lost
to stoke but the result is there in black and white for all
to see and i think chelsea will hit the skids after a while
to just because cesc and costa are doing well now thats there main threat but teams will work out how
to stop them as the season goes on and chelsea will become predictable i think we might just do well this season after all
i think this could officially be the start of the end for wenger his blind arrogance has cause him
to buy welbeck in the sheer belief that AGAINST THE ODDS HE CAN BEAT THE REST OF THE BIG 4
WITH ONE ARM BEHIND HIS
BACK we should be buying top top top european c / l standard players not sunderland spuds everton standard players thats about welbecks standard of club in all truthful reality he is an honest hard working player but wenger thinks he can coach the mediocrity out of him he is truely insane its a guaranteed source of goals we need not more fancy hold up play and «pace» and missing chance after chance so the postman is to be joined by the manchester metro tram absolute disgrace he has kidded on ozil and sanchez they must be wondering what is going on atm they are seeing the true wenger now just panicking and not panicking very well to that effect and for some reason wenger has gone all kinky for english players for some strange reason at least chambers has great potential welbeck has past that stage and is a seasoned pro now and he is no where near what we need wenger is trying to show how great he is by whiping the back out of the same players week after week in the vain hope that he can win the league without rotating ever and they will get injured and he wont have learned his lesson and we will pay for it in the end best last day transfer would have been a 4 year contract for k

What I feel the people here want is
to do away
with style of
play AW has set
up because even when Welbeck
played lone striker many times he was
back to goal for the link
up for many of the one twos
with the midfield.
So much of our
play is predicated
to having a target set
up shop
with back towards
goal and others breaking off that.
I do nt know why im so disappointed i keep thinking every window he will do it splash big bring
back the old days and especially this window
with all the abuse he had got last season but no did nothing im the fool for getting my hopes
up again you would think id learn by now, if we did pull off lemar and kept sanchez after buying lacazette and kolasanic id be delighted but keeping an unhappy sanchez isnt good hopefully some forgien club will come in for him in January but what happened at Liverpool was a disgrace i cant take any more its ruining my mood im depressed in disbelief at how stupid and soft centred we were making the exact same mistakes for 8 or 9 yrs ground hog day i cant cope we have leaked 8
goals in 3 games very worrying and the clown wont even
play kolasanic i wanted wenger
to spend big go out in a blaze of glory in 2 yrs time but this is embarrassing
to me it looks like a money racket and we are the fools
Qualities: Giroud - Hold
up (but not against top defenders Tery, Cahil, etc), short pass, hard working, team player, defensive duties (set - pieces), injuries Benteke - Hold
up, short pass, better dribbler, long shots, finishing, positioning, defensive duties (set - pieces), can
play with his
back to the
goal and also drop deep and face the
goal when marked weakness: Giroud - very slow, easily marked, poor finishing (not wc finisher), technique Benteke - injuries, not a hard worker If you look the stats for the since 2012/2013, they have almost similar records except that Benteke scored like total of 19
goals (correct me if I'm wrong) in his 1st season and also have a decent record against top teams, keep in mind he
plays for AstonVilla not Arsenal where you get much more chances and better players around.
Now I think there is still reasons
to be cheerful, I agree Man C & Chelski have spent & bought some good players, we all understand that 5 of those teams might be in the CL proper which is a huge distraction for those 4 - 5 teams.Chelsea will not be able
to field the same 13 - 14 players all season, as for Man C they were very frail at the
back last season, add
to that 2 flying wing
backs and I'm not sure they will be any better this coming season.LFC will most probably have CL as well if they qualify and haven't exactly bought great players apart from Salah who could be a good aquasistion for them.Spuds have sold a good player & strengthened a rival & still not bought a single player yet, Man U have bought 2 good players & in Lukaku have a proven
goal scorer in the PL but if they
play the same dour way they did last season &
with the added games the CL brings will they perform week in week out in the league??? As for Everton yes they have released a lot of players and also brought in a lot too
to give better quality in the squad as they have Europa league the same as US the big difference is I think we will
play squad players & youngsters maybe
with a few senior players all the way
up to the QF This tells me most of our rivals will pave the way for us
to field pretty much the same side every weekend in the PL thus giving us an advantage over all the other 5 teams
playing in the CL & Europa, just remember the League has been won in the last 2 seasons by teams NOT in Europe YES we are this season but I think Wenger will put all his eggs in the League basket and field an under strength side in all comps hence focusing on the League until we are no longer in the race.
Just before the hour - mark, Mesut Ozil caps off some sublime build
up play which started from the
back,
with Alexis finding the German inside the penalty box
to fire into the roof of the net
to reclaim our two -
goal advantage.
The problem that Wenger has
with Giroud's
goal scoring form, however, is that the Frenchman can only
play in that one central position and
to start him there means moving Alexis Sanchez
back out
to the left flank, unless he decides
to go
with two
up front.
You could mention how coq would be
back to cover, but he will be preoccupied Chelsea as i mentioned earlier will not
play Oscar
up front, Drogba is fit we all know what he is capable of, even if he doesn't get anywhere near the ball, he is a proven striker in the league
with an eye for
goal, and ridiculously overpowered and still quick for his age, if his on the pitch his job would be
to draw coq away from the heart of the midfield.
Great Reception???, tell you the truth Im not one of those gunners who started supporting the gunners during the invicibles or early Wenger double winning years, quite honestly i wasnt ineterested in football and I liked a certain Crespo and Shevchenko meaning I liked the blue half of London, surprisingly when Mourinho joined I stopped watching football all together, till one glorious Champions League Night, It was my first ever Match there was a certain 20 year old highly rated youngster who scored a wonder
goal that day he
played with such skill and passion ever since then I started supporting arsenal that was during the barren years.I actually liked Barcelona because of their similarity
with the arsenal, so when Fabregas joined Barca I started
to watch them a bit more I still loved Arsenal and I was extremely passionate, the other players i adored left in painful manners, while some left which was still painful: i.e Eboue.I always taught cesc would come
back and when it was official he was leaving Barca i said Finally almost hosting a party.Well reports started coming out that he is going
to join chelsea and i laughed so hard and said he would be the last player on earth
to do that, when it became official words cant express how i felt, He was the reason I started watching football he lit
up the emirates
with exquisite touches through balls
to walcott, its a shame I would have preferred he joined bayern, or remained in barca its terrible reading the comments he made recently about the emirates, This was a captain, someone who led, anyways, like ive learnt and Arsenal have learnt, We do nt live in the past Like Liverpool (no pun) WE ARE THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE (Crowley)(Puma) WE ARE ARSENAL.....
In his time at the Emirates Stadium, Giroud has gone on
to have a relatively successful time
playing in a hold -
up role
with his
back to goal and Wenger believes that in order
to have an effective time in that position — his technical game has had
to improve hugely.
Last few games he has been
playing back to goal as the «hold
up» player just so that Wenger can continue
with another failed experiment and ruin another player.
Yes, I think he has all the attributes of a good CF.. He can link
up, he can
play with back to goal.
After Piqué's
goal put Barça
up, 3 — 0,
with just ten minutes
to play, Roma striker Edin Dzeko pulled one
back before Luis Suárez added a late fourth for Els Blaugranes.
With Carroll coming
back and
playing more minutes and Payet looking somewhere close
to his best if betting this game I'd take a chance on the home team Hammers giving
up three quarters of a
goal.
While Arsenal gave
up a third
goal in the second half, the team eventually stabilized,
with the midfield providing the platform for Arsenal
to play more directly and come
back in the last twenty minutes.
A big, strong center
back with a commandin type of
play, a player who can read the game is wat we need in our so loved, enternin bt not trophy winnin team.i agree wit Filipino Dan our best signin always cums sum were as a suprise not from da Barclays league.Am sure the man u saw sagna, flamine and some good players we have at our club can still find the defender we despartely nid.An experienced
goal scorer would be better
to partner Robin vp as ADE has failed
to stand
up in big games.
He isn't mobile, nor agile; he can't join the build -
up as in contrast
to Carroll he doesn't like
to play with his
back to the
goal; nor he is able
to press actively from
up front.
Shortly after the game, Pardew appeared
to dismiss the thought of a serious injury
to Sturridge, and he is hoping
to have the striker
back on the
playing field in a fortnight's time, he said: «We need him
up and running as it's
goals we've struggled
with.
By his own admission he was at fault for Leicester's second
goal, but he bounced
back to play a crucial role in our dramatic fightback,
with his left foot setting
up our third and fourth
goals.
Icardi seems
to have been instructed
to play very strong
with his
back to the net, hold
up the ball for as long as positive and then distribute out wide which once again encourages the
play down the middle. This very strong central philosophy may not be the most complimentary style
to Mauro Icardi's journey
to being top
goal scorer of the league but it
played such a crucial role in getting a wide variety of different players on the score sheet instead of relying on Icardi and Perisic.
Also, its very likely that both wingers will swap sides throughout the game
to switch
up play and exploit the full
backs and provide Kane and possibly Dembele
with ammunition for
goals.
Giroud is not the problem — he is
playing up top by himself and
with his
back to goal — he does not have another player charging forward from the midfield (Ramsey)
to finish off the hold -
up play.
Walcott is fast and will be the best in the world if he continiously works on the way he handles the ball, as well as Nasri who on the other hand do nt really have a speedy run but very compact on the way he moves on the pitch and fast enough when he dribbles. But for the two lads
to be compared
with Rosicky, Pires, Hleb and bergkamp is still a bit of a question.Arshavin is one of these players who
plays like Rosicky or Hleb but has got lil bit more quality such as: more
goal minded, more agressive, and more intelligent. We really need Arshavin, not only
to get trophies but
to get our beautifull
play back in the game again.Cant wait
to see Walcott and especially Fab
back again.I beleive many Fans out there are dreamin
to see this line
up = Sagna - Gallas - Djourou - Clichy Toure Walcott - Fab — Rosicky Arsha Ade
Ibrahimovic would fit the bill as a well - suited foil for the Frenchman at Old Trafford, for one season at least, given his aerial presence, skill at holding
up the ball,
playing with his
back to goal and finding the runs of teammates
with a lay - off into the box.
We'll never get the best out of him if we don't
play him
up top and
play to his strengths (over the top as opposed
to passing
to him
with his
back to goal) but after he
played out wide and got a couple of
goals I fear Martinez has chosen that as his very public secret weapon!
Here's what is required (leaving aside Theresa May's electorally hamstrung inability
to deliver much of it): The entire cabinet and every business leader the government's black book can muster, on stage for the launch of the new strategy; an explicit declaration that this, full decarbonization of the economy, is the post-Brexit economic strategy; clear and attractive retail policies, such as a diesel scrappage scheme, tax breaks for green investment, new apprenticeships, a green home building program; an open invitation
to all opposition party leaders
to share a platform
to support the plan
with a declaration that while they may not agree on every component they fully endorse the over-arching
goal; a willingness
to shame those party leaders who
play party politics and refuse
to turn
up; a fortnight - long program where each day sees a new cabinet member explain how the plan will transform parts of the economy; a Royal Commission on the flaws of GDP as an economic measure and the viability of alternative quality of life metrics; and, yes, a brave assertion that carbon intensive industries will have
to transform or be scaled
back,
backed by a decarbonization adaptation fund
to help affected communities respond
to this global trend.
