Thanks to the XT9 predictive text that auto - completes words, messaging felt speedy, though it's definitely slower than
using a full
QWERTY keyboard.
Suffice to say, having to really
use SureType after being such a full
qwerty guy for so long has been an experience.
The touch interface makes highlighting easy, but underlining or annotating is extremely difficult with your finger —
using the included stylus is better, but even it isn't great for underlining or note - taking — and I missed the Kindle's
QWERTY keyboard for taking notes.
It is also the thinnest full
QWERTY smartphone with a dedicated numeric fifth row to increase accuracy, minimize your
use of the «ALT» key, and enjoy easier and more efficient typing and texting.
The Palm Pixi's full
qwerty keyboard is tiny, but is awesome to
use, and I'm pretty sure RIM could have fit a keyboard like that onto the Pearl if they wanted to.
It's actually quite good and it didn't take me long to get
used to it, but that said I'd rather have a full
qwerty.
