This time around, though, Mario can
use Thwomps to his advantage by jumping on top of them to reach higher areas or unreachable points.
This means you can
use a thwomp with the Super Mario Bros. 1 overlay, or place a Magikoopa in the Super Mario Bros. 3 style.

Making
use of custom image billboards and sound injection, there's everything from
Thwomp noises to the wedding poster visible on the journey to New Donk City.
In the 1993 Super Mario Bros. film, miniature, non-explosive Bullet Bills (though they resemble more Banzai Bills) appear as the power source of the
Thwomp Stomper boots
used by Mario, Luigi and Big Bertha; a neon sign advertising a bar called «Bullet Bill's» can also be seen prominently displayed in Dinohattan throughout the film.
Players
use the touch screen to guide a Mini Toy to the goal door in each stage by moving girders and changing the toy's direction to make sure it avoids enemies, spikes,
Thwomps, and any other perils that could put a stop to the march of the Minis.
The Super
Thwomps make a second return in SNES Rainbow Road that reappears the third time in the first DLC pack, The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8; these
Thwomps also
use the Super Mario Galaxy design unlike in Mario Kart 7.
Thwomps again return in Mario Kart Wii,
using their Super Mario 64 DS appearance.

Much like
Thwomps, they are invincible and are usually only
used as obstacles that slow the player down.
While it is down, if the player jumps above the
Thwomp and
uses Statue Mario, they will destroy it, giving the player 200 points.
This is the last game that
Thwomps use their Super Mario 64 design.
A group of
Thwomps are guarding Magikoopa's fortress in Flown the Koopa, and depending on how the accompanying puzzle is solved, the Mario Bros. are either crushed by them, or make their way through the first three, and the fourth and final giant one by distracting it with some coins (which fall out of Mario's pocket when he tries to convince Luigi to
use some of his cookies instead).
In Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser, a
Thwomp is
used in one of the Captain Commands, which is
Thwomp Thump.
Like many enemies,
Thwomps use their designs from the main series rather than their design from the first three Paper Mario games.
Unlike the
Thwomps of previous Mario Parties which had
used their appearance from Super Mario 64, the
Thwomps of this game now look more like they did in the days of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, although their expression is severely different, in that it looks more mad than the official art, and their prominent spike is gone.
It
uses the Super Mario World theme, and most of its platforming and puzzles, as the title suggests, involve
Thwomps (though Boos, spikes and Yoshis also show up).
