When
swaddling your
baby,
use a large square blanket or
swaddle and wrap your
baby snugly with their arms straight at their sides and the blanket or
swaddle at but never above the shoulders.
It is my understanding that if a blanket is
used, it is only
used to tightly
swaddle the
baby, but loose blankets are a no no.
Also,
swaddling does work really well for some
babies (it did with mine), but I found it very hard to replicate the superb
swaddling job that the neonatal nurses do, because when I tried it with a regular
swaddling blanket she quickly wormed her way out of it, so instead I
used a
swaddling sleepsack (my favorite was the Kiddopotamus, but others swear by the Miracle Blanket or the Halo), and actually continued
swaddling until quite recently because it helped her sleep so much!
Arms Up
Swaddle It is very natural for
babies to sleep with arms up and since they like sleeping in that position, why not make them feel more secure by
using the Arms Up
Swaddle.
