use dried dates.

Just found this website and made these, but
used dried dates as that is all I had.

using dried dates I usually soak them in boiling water for 5 mins before using — this softens them up so they blend easier.
I also
used dried dates instead of date paste and red boat fish sauce instead of coconut aminos, but it tastes great.

used dried dates, figs, cherries, and papapa, you can just as easily use other dried fruits like prunes, raisins, cranberries, mango, pineapple, and kiwi.

Hi, sorry to ask the same question that I did on another recipe, but could you
use dried figs instead of medjool
dates?
I made these today but had to substitute a few ingredients as I didn't have everything — I
used dried prunes instead of
dates, chopped almonds and hazelnuts instead of the sunflower seeds and vegetable oil instead of coconut oil.
I
used canned great northerns and subbed
dates in for apricots,
dried blueberries for raisins, and chopped walnuts for the pumpkin seeds.
I do the same as # 1 with
dried figs or prunes, as I find
dates a little bit too much like toffee sometimes: — RRB - and
use black tahini for an extra-fun flavour.

used agave nectar instead of maple syrup and normal
dates (that seemed quite
dry) instead of medjool
dates.

dates quite a lot in my recipes as they are super sweet and easy to cook with but you could try
using prunes or
dried figs instead.
For chopping
dates and anything
dry, make sure you're
using a food processor rather than a blender as a blender really needs a liquid in order to work!
I didn't need to
use any additional water, but if your
dates are on the
drier side, you might need a bit of water to help all the ingredients stick together.
I was out of
dates so I

dried apricots,
dried cherries and even

I ca n`t find fresh
dates where I live either, but I found a great way to

dates through a garlic crusher.

I found this step to be totally worthwhile, but if you're not up to it you can do any of the following: (1) simply omit the chips, in which case the granola will be nonetheless delicious, (2) buy a bag of banana chips and toss them in, though watch out for fried banana chips, which you are welcome to
use, though they will add significantly to the recipe's fat content, or (3) throw in some alternative source of
dried fruity sweet and chewiness, like raisins or
dates.
You can really play around with different additives such as toasted almonds or hazelnuts in place of the walnuts, or
using dried cranberries, apricots, or
dates in place of the figs.

Dates can be a little vexing to chop into pieces (and I don't like those «
date pieces» they sell, because they are mixed with flour and are kinda
dry) so I
use scissors to carefully snip them.
