Funds are
used to raise awareness about child hunger
in the U.S.; create public - private partnerships that align kids with the resources they need; support nutrition programs like
school breakfast and summer meals; and educate kids and their families on how to cook healthy meals with limited resources.
Over the course of three sessions we explored ways
in which
school nutrition professionals are managing stakeholder engagement, how they are
using assessment tools to measure progress and set new goals, and
breakfast program best practices vis - à - vis operations, marketing, menuing, staff training, and equipment.
The Partners for BIC grant is targeted to help high - need
schools and districts cover up - front costs commonly associated with implementing
breakfast -
in - the - classroom; funds can be
used to purchase equipment and supplies, provided some staff support and training, or to procure marketing materials and other related costs.

What I liked best about this format for presenting information was the «360 degree» perspective it offered: Casey gave the issue a framework, with useful advice on how to persuade principals and administrators to implement

breakfast programs; Nora followed, sharing her personal story with
using free / reduced programs when her children were young, and stressing the importance of taking care of «the whole child»; Rosario charmed the crowd with her experiences implementing
in - classroom
breakfast in her district, sharing a story about how excited her kids got about
breakfast after a power outage — not how excited they were about the return of electricity, but about getting
breakfast; Barry inspired the group by explaining how he took his successes as a
school food director as a springboard to a new career as a consultant, replicating and spreading that success
in other classrooms.
To a packed room, they laid out a vision for a whole environment change approach to food
in London, with examples of possible activities within the Flagships ranging from extending universal free
school meals across all year groups and providing

What the new Q & A does not tell parents, but which I revealed
