Scan allows the device to

iris scanner and facial recognition at the same time to offer even better security, and it will work well in low light or bright conditions — something that hindered previous scanners on the Galaxy S8 series and Galaxy Note 8.
That phone is stunning in its efficiency, and I still consider the Galaxy S8 Plus to be the most ergonomic large - screen phone I've yet
used (when relying on
iris scanning for biometric ID and not the off - center fingerprint reader, of course).
The security and privacy concerns over Face ID unlock continues as the particular capability is based on a lot of different aspects including
iris scanning, depth sensors and the type of accessories that one may
use on their face like sunglasses, mask or even having a beard or clean shaved makes a difference.
