the use of any added sweeteners.

I only
use just stevia (stevia drops are the best IMHO) if the recipe doesn't require too many
added sweeteners and there is no risk
of bitter aftertaste.
It's a super high concentrated sugar so I don't
use it, but if you're making something full
of sugar anyway then I can appreciate the futility
of also
adding a natural
sweetener like honey.
* Notes: If you
use liquid
sweetener (maple syrup or agave),
add with the wet ingredients and you may need to adjust the amount
of eggnog or flour to get the right consistency.
Using an unsweetened variety will change the flavor slightly, which may be perfect for you, or may prompt you to
add just a touch more
sweetener (
of your choice).
Now
add the remaining 3 cups
of water, vanilla extract, and
sweetener if
using, and blend to incorporate.
If you want less
of the banana flavor, you can
use bananas that aren't as ripe, but then you will probably want to

use any at all - it really depends on your palate You can always
add some
sweetener after it's mixed.

of the quinoa, almond milk, cinnamon, vanilla, almond butter (if
using) and
sweetener of choice to a blender, blend until smooth.
I've also
added flour and coconut to frosting (see our vanilla caramel cupcakes recipe) to try to decrease the
use of other

For this reason I didn't
add any additional
sweeteners to this, but if you want a sweeter version you can always
use alternative
sweeteners (which aren't as harsh on the body as refined sugar) and

3/4 cup organic pecans or walnuts 2 - 3 tablespoons organic nut butter
of choice (we like cashew butter) 1 tablespoon melted organic coconut oil 2 cups pitted organic Medjool dates 1/4 cup organic cacao powder (or carob powder — you may want to
add a bit
of sweetener if
using carob) 1 teaspoon organic vanilla extract 1 teaspoon organic cinnamon pinch
of salt 1/3 cup organic shredded coconut (optional)
I
use vanilla - flavored stevia to keep the amount
of added sweetener on the lower side.
If you will be storing it,
use whole cane sugar instead
of agave nectar or raw honey, or
add the liquid
sweetener just before serving.
If you find this too mellow and are not concerned about
using a
sweetener then you could also
add a couple
of tablespoons
of pure maple syrup or rice syrup.
By
using one
of them sweetened, I didn't need to
add any
sweetener to the recipe.
I
used maple syrup for the
sweetener (and then
added 1/4 cup
of sugar to please the crowd), I chose butter as my oil, and I omitted the pecans from the batter.
I've also
added a few spices because when you're not
using any
sweetener, sweet spices like cinnamon and ginger help lift the sweet flavour
of the sweet potato.
To make them a little sweeter, I would suggest perhaps a pinch
of powdered sugar on top, or even an
added two tablespoons
of coconut sugar, honey, or whatever
sweetener your
using.
You could also
add a
sweetener of choice, this time i
used agave.
We
use very little sugar
added to dishes; we avoid processed foods containing
sweeteners; we opt for veggies instead
of fruit and shun fruit juices altogether.
I like to
use 2 - 3
sweeteners to get a synergistic effect so I decreased the stevia to 1/8 tsp and
added 1/3 cup
of Just Like Sugar Brown.
Then
add a little fun, like nuts, a
sweetener of choice (I chose to
use juice as my liquid and opted out
of a
sweetener) and you have magic in your mouth.
Claims relating to sugar content (sugar - free, low - sugar and no -
added - sugar) have increased consistently in recent years, however, probably aided by advances in the
use of new, particularly natural,
sweeteners.
Yet another
added benefit
of using non-sugar
sweeteners is that they do not feed bad microbes in the gut such as candida.

used Stevia here and if you like it sweeter,
add more) 2 tbs Cooking Cocoa (The «richer» the better here) Pinch

Finally, remember that you'd most probably need to
add more
of the
sweetener, if you
use naturally NOT sweet plant milks (almond, hazelnut, soy, quinoa, millet, hemp).
If
using another
sweetener,
add enough to equal 1/4 cup
of sugar, and increase until desired sweetness.
If you want to create an entirely sugar - free dessert, you can omit the dates and
use a bit
of almond butter along with the pureed pecans to create the crust, then
add stevia or another sugar - free
sweetener to taste.
* You may substitute a tablespoon
of your choice
sweetener for stevia or omit it, I just
use it because it has no
added sugar and enjoy it.

Maple syrup is
used as a wholesome
sweetener that
adds to the rich velvety lusciousness
of this heavenly dessert.
I went for a lower - carb version by only
using 2T
of sweetener and
adding 1/2 t
of stevia.
I
added a bit more
of some
of my favorite mix - in's and natural
sweeteners as well but feel free to
use anything you prefer.
