LEILANI WILDE: In regards to the legalities
of using donor milk from mother to mother, there actually isn't any rule or regulation
as far
as a legal standpoint that I'm aware
of, or that is current today.
If you don't feel comfortable
using donor breastmilk, goat's
milk formula is a good option,
as in terms
of protein structure, it's actually the closest mammalian
milk to human
milk.

of focusing on my miracles, I was focused on their weight gain, how many ounces I could pump, soliciting
donor milk, and
using as little formula
as possible.
The mothers are also more likely to have to consider options such
as breast
milk expression, the
use of donor milk or fortification
of the
milk and different methods
of supplementary feeding.

In general, studies are lacking in details about the complexities
of feeding multiples and do not specify details
of the feeding method such
as direct breastfeeding,
use of tube, cup or bottle, the

milk, and the differences in feeding method between different babies (Renfrew 2009).
The findings in this study also provide new evidence for pediatricians
as they provide guidance to breastfeeding mothers who may be considering incorporating formula into their infant's diet, and they may have implications for decisions around the
use of donor human
milk in cases when supplementation is needed.
The term «
donor human
milk» is widely interpreted
as meaning
milk provided to
milk banks irrespective
of whether payment has been provided even though by definition the
use of the word «
donor» assumes that the
milk is a gift from the mother.
