This archival impulse revolutionized art production over the ensuing decades, paving the way for a conceptually driven
use of photography as a means of absorbing the world at large into a new aesthetic realm.
Organized by the curatorial team of Claudia Bohn - Spector and Sam Mellon, with supporting research by Carolyn Peter, this exhibition examines how these two artists bridged modernist and emerging post-modernist trends by ushering in
the use of photography as a key element of contemporary avant - garde art.
The exhibition focuses on
the use of photography as a personal diary and presents works, dating from the early 2000s to the present, by 14 Italian and international artists: Melanie Bonajo, Kenta Cobayashi, Tomé Duarte, Irene Fenara, Lebohang Kganye, Vendula Knopova, Leigh Ledare, Wen Ling, Ryan McGinley, Izumi Miyazaki, Joanna Piotrowska, Greg Reynolds, Antonio Rovaldi, and Maurice van Es.
The show includes works by 14 Italian and international artists (Melanie Bonajo, Kenta Cobayashi, Tomé Duarte, Irene Fenara, Lebohang Kganye, Vendula Knopova, Leigh Ledare, Wen Ling, Ryan McGinley, Izumi Miyazaki, Joanna Piotrowska, Greg Reynolds, Antonio Rovaldi, Maurice van Es), and explores
the use of photography as a personal diary over a period of time ranging from the early 2000s through today.
While attending Parsons, she has also developed several new projects that continue her interest in historical narratives, particularly
the use of photography as a form of archival material in post-war Lebanon.
