There is now adequate empirical evidence available around the world: Wherever people have
brought about more efficient
use of energy and greater
use of renewable energy, you generate many more jobs than if you were to continue with conventional technologies and fossil fuels.
But one
of the things that I have been very impressed by here is a lot
of the stories
of hope; many folks have traveled a long way to share what they are doing on a very local level to help combat climate change, and that's everything from, kind
of, rural electrification in Africa and India, you know,
bringing light to people who are still
using dung or coal for cooking and heating and dying from indoor air pollution to, you know, major
renewable energy projects, say, here in Denmark where they now get 20 percent
of their electricity from wind power.
A new catalyst created by U

brings them one step closer to artificial photosynthesis — a system that, just like plants, would
use renewable energy to convert carbon dioxide (CO2) into stored chemical
energy.
Using computer simulations, she's uncovering the physics behind a method she hopes will simplify the design
of these devices, as well as reduce their size and cost,
bringing us closer to creating a limitless supply
of clean,
renewable energy — the holy grail
of energy research.
The increasing proliferation
of these tools has the potential to raise awareness among environmentally - minded people and perhaps
bring pressure to bear upon utilities to
use more
renewable energy sources (or at least less coal mined from the tops
of mountains!)
Most talk
of algae and
renewable energy on TreeHugger involves liquid biofuels, but a new plan being put forth in Venice hopes to
use algae to generate electricity and allow the city take one large step towards being entirely off fossil fuels: The idea is to take two kinds
of algae which are
brought in attached to ships, Sargassum muticum and Undaria pinnafitida, and
use it in a new 40 MW power plant.
This conclusion
brings me little joy in that batteries are a crucial part

use of renewables,
renewable energy generation, battery storage and electric vehicles.
Well - functioning and managed T&D systems are needed to

use of energy (i.e., through smart - grid technologies)(IPCC 2014).
