using either
raw cocoa powder or dutch process
cocoa powder, as American
cocoa powder (think Hershey's, etc.) will give them a bitter, almost burnt taste

powder which you can find online from places like Amazon if you're not near a local health shop, feel free to
use cocoa powder though if your prefer x

Make sure you

I've been
using raw cacao

powder (I updated the list of ingredients to list both options).

raw cacao nibs and grind them myself, can I
use that as a sub in recipes that call for cacao
powder or

In place of the chocolate chips, I would
use a mixture of coconut oil,
cocoa powder and
raw honey or stevia to make them sugar - free as well.
** I
use raw cacao
powder but if you want to
use cocoa powder instead, try adding a small amount at first as it might give a more bitter taste.
To make this a
raw chocolate you would need to
use raw cacoa
powder instead of regular
cocoa powder, but again this is optional and
cocoa could be interchanged here is preferred.
* If you are
using regular
cocoa powder and chocolate chips, these energy bites will not be
raw, but they will still be delicious (of course).
And if you don't give two whits about preserving the integrity of the
raw enzymes and such (we all know I'm no purist), it's quite alright to
use regular
cocoa powder and agave nectar instead.

use very often, well I don't ever
use it so let's talk about it and that's all of the
raw cocoa products:

That said, you could still
use an organic, fairly - traded
cocoa powder instead of the
raw stuff — just make sure it is pure and the only ingredient in your tub / packet is
cocoa.
