But now that I no longer
use synthetic scents in my home, I've figured out how to duplicate this amazing scent but with my essential oils.
Not exact matches
While
synthetic fragrances just cover stinky stenches with overpowering chemical smells, we can
use natural
scents to gently remove smells.
They
use a
synthetic phylate - free and musk - free
scent but they also make special orders of
scent free and beeswax candles.
Although I strongly suggest you make
use of
synthetic fragrance oils for your candles, in this post I will also discuss
using essential oils, as well as how to build a
scent profile by
using multiple different fragrance or essential oils in a single candle.
While it is impossible to avoid phthalates completely, we can drastically decrease our exposure by avoiding plastics to the best of our ability, especially in the kitchen (replace plastic storage containers with glass ones), avoiding
synthetic fragrances (assume that any product that lists «fragrance,» «perfume» or «parfum» as an ingredient contains the chemical), purchase phthalate - free makeup, eat organic whenever possible (to avoid phthalates in pesticides), and finally, by avoiding the
use of
scented candles and air fresheners with
synthetic scents (pure essential oils are a healthier alternative).
Our Soothing
Scent was crafted
using an essential oil blend that includes camphor, mint, clove, and cinnamon instead of
synthetic fragrances.
It is, I explain, a gesamtkunstwerk gesture that I first discovered at the Neue Galerie when they
used wafts of exotic perfumes and
synthetic earthen
scents to enhance the viewing of their Otto Dix show a couple of years ago.
Both Rosenkranz and Yi
use synthetic replicas instead of organic
scents, relying on scientist collaborators to determine the molecular compounds that will best imitate their
scent referents.
While I no longer
use scented candles in my home because of the potential health risks, natural
scents actually inspire me more than the
synthetic ones ever did!
