I'm striving to
use less bananas and more fruit / veg other
than berries and
kale.
Added sugar is also being removed from more
than 50 «purpose blended» smoothies on the menu and the company is transitioning to
using more whole fruits and vegetables such as mangoes, blueberries, raspberries, carrots and
kale.
Well, just so you know, when you blitz 5 cups of
kale in a food (I
used the Twister Jar of my Blendtec to make it really easy) it comes down to less
than a cup.
It's much more affordable to create a pesto with
kale than with basil, and you can whip up a huge quantity to save for later
use with ease.
I love getting to
use kale in a different manner
than my usual.
I
used kale instead of collard greens because it was on sale, swapped the sweet potatoes for roasted red potatoes, and
used pinto beans because I could not find any adzuki beans that were less
than $ 2.50 per can.
I feel like I
use more water to wash my
kale,
than my new high efficiency washing machine
uses to wash our clothes!
I would recommend
using spinach rather
than kale, unless you have a very high speed blender.
Massage the dressing into the
kale (
use your hands, they're much better at the job
than a pair of tongs) and then plate.
I add more chickpeas, and
use another green such as baby
kale, spinach, or arugula in place of mustard greens (not a big fan of mustard greens), and since we like greens I often add more
than the recipe calls for.
It's flexible, too —
use a different grain if you'd like (this is adapted from a rice dish in Vegan Express);
use a different green other
than bok choy (
kale would work); and if you can't find edamame or prefer not to
use these tasty green soybeans, substitute green peas.
To make this even easier, I
used some sausage rather
than chicken and a bag of pre-washed baby
kale, available at Trader Joe's, so no shredding and no trimming.
This is also one of my favorite green smoothie recipes Jammie, but I'd like to
use kale more
than spinach and prefer greener, btw have you tried
using stasher bag to store your veggie or fruits in the refrigerator?
I did add a little paprika, and, because it was a lot of
kale, I
used more
than 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
This low - carb shake
uses only one Granny Smith apple, which contains less sugar
than other varieties, while detoxifying cucumber and fibrous
kale round it out into a fully nutritious drink.

using baby spinach leaves, which is much easier
than kale for an ordinary blender to tackle!

Use bumpy, dark green dinosaur lacinato
kale, which tends to be less bitter and tough
than curly - leafed
kale.
You can
use much less
than if you were
using kale or other greens, because they're so concentrated.
