I used nooch instead of cheese so that's probably where the issue stemmed from.

First, I made a few tweaks to Isa's recipe... mainly because I had no vegetable broth, so I
used my impromptu
nooch plus random spice blend.
You could also
use a vegan parmesan or drown it with
nooch (nutritional yeast).
For the sauce, I
used 1 whole avocado, 1/3 cup
nooch, 1/3 cup plain almond milk, 1 large fist of greens, and a pinch of salt.
Vegans love it (even affectionately nicknaming it «
nooch») and
use it in all kinds of recipes.
I added red pepper flakes to my serving,
used whole wheat panko breadcrumbs and did add some
nooch eventhough the recipe did nt call for it.
I
used a teeny bit more lemon juice (by accident) and it was still great... I think it reduced the «powdery» flavor that
nooch has (although I love it).
Nutritional yeast — or
nooch, if you're really into it — is different from live yeast (
used for making bread) or brewer's yeast (the stuff you make beer with) and is usually grown from sugar - cane, beet molasses, or wood pulp.
