We have not
used rice cereal with our children because we keep our children on a schedule, we breast feed and rice cereal is not healthy for little babies.
And I love a good homemade granola, I have never
used rice cereal though, that's a great idea!
If you want a gluten free version, do not
use rice cereal unless it is certified gluten free.

I also wanted to share with you a traditional Indian recipe which is very similar to this and
uses only jaggery (very nutritious) and
rice puffs (same as
rice cereal).
Cassie's Tip: There are so many ways that you could adapt this to make it your own:
use milk chocolate or white chocolate chips in addition to or instead of the butterscotch;
use Rice Krispy's
Cereal instead of oatmeal (or any of your favorite
cereals); add chocolate chips to the crust mixture; add peanuts to the crust mixture; sprinkle nuts, chocolate chips, or drizzle caramel or chocolate sauce over the caramel mixture... see what I mean?

I didn't have any buckwheat but i have a small amount of whole wheat baby
rice cereal... so I
used that instead it turned out great and was a great way to
use up that last bit of baby
rice cereal that usually sits in my cupboard till it expires and i throw it out.
Since the oats are a less - prominent part of this recipe, you might try replacing the oat flour with buckwheat and the whole oats with crisp brown
rice cereal like we
