While LA Unified is firmly committed to online
credit recovery classes as a means to the district's newly stated top goal — 100 percent graduation — Los Angeles charter school operators
use these classes much more sparingly, as their graduation rates tend to be far ahead of the district's.
If your students
use online courses as their primary mode of content delivery, which is often the case in
credit recovery programs, then encourage them to continue working on their courses from home.
I am deeply concerned with the findings of inappropriate
use of
credit recovery courses, intentionally misleading attendance coding, and the pressure exerted by administration to pass students with failing grades.
