Unless you can check your blood ketones,
using Ketostix is an easy way to detect urinary ketones.
I started the Fat Fast Friday 5/8/2015 and am
using Ketostix.
Not sure if that will change over time but since the ketone strips are so expensive I have been
using the ketostix to help verify more frequently w the blood testing just every few days.
The oldest method of testing for ketosis is by
using Ketostix.
To know whether or not you're in ketosis you can measure your blood ketones
using Ketostix.
If you measure your ketone levels (
using ketostix), they may get quite high due to the lack of water but it doesn't mean you will be in deeper ketosis (ketostix are not accurate).
When you detect ketosis after about 2 - 3 days, start adding net carbs (about 5 grams each week) until you detect a very low - level or no ketones (
using Ketostix or blood ketone meter).
Don't worry about not being ketones if
using Ketostix (I explained why in this post).
I guess the best way to measure ketone would still be blood ketone meter but if you can measure anything
using Ketostix, it means you are in ketosis.

I tracked my ketones
using ketostix.
However, I've been on a low - carb, ketogenic diet for 2 years,
use ketostix every now and then and can't complain about them I've read the post you linked to and I know ketostix detection strips are not accurate but they are not useless.
I plan to test every two weeks and
use ketostix in between.
We use Ketostix to ensure we are in ketosis.
When I started,
I used Ketostix to find out when I was in ketosis and what my net carbs limit should be.
I do nt
use ketostix cause cant never find those in my country (im dominican), I started with 202 pounds and im already down to 194 (wich is crazy) I know that most of the pounds I've lost is water loss.
I did Atkins's Induction Mon - Thurs
used Ketostix before workout Friday morning and there was a trace of Ketones.
During the following week, I went down to 78.4, but my weight went back up until my next weight in at 79.1 I did cheat last weekend, to be completely honest, but I cheated on milk and peanut butter (not a large amount though) and was still in ketosis the next day (
I use ketostix).

If you really want to track ketone levels (more for therapeutic purposes), I suggest you either try
using a blood ketone meter or a breathalyzer that are a lot more accurate than
Ketostix.
I was wondering if the

If you
use a blood ketone meter (not
Ketostix), you will measure ketones even after you get adapted.
I assume they have
used a kind of Keto strip,
Ketostix, and those are measuring acetoacetate only by a unique chemical reaction.
One point I want to make about
Ketostix is that a lot of people
use them because they seem cheap (initially).
The best way to test if you're in a state of ketosis is by
using ketone urine testing strips, often referred to buy the brand name,
Ketostix.
Ketostix are
used to detect ketones in urine and can be obtained at any drug store.
