I hate
using a tablet for comics (color) and ereader for books (text).

use tablets for reading e-books, while 6 %
use them to read magazines and
comics.
Some
comics are available without a subscription, but the
tablet beta seems to be
for current subscribers only — I wasn't prompted to
use it until after I logged in.
The biggest news, though, is that we're working with a number of major publishers (and important smaller ones) to provide a storefront that contains deluxe digital graphic novels aimed at the «real mainstream,» the audience
for graphic novels that reads Maus or Fun Home or Dotter of Her Father's Eyes but would never think of going into a
comic shop guarded by a dodgy life - size statue of She - Hulk... We think the immersive «lean back» experience that
tablets provide, along with purchase ease - of -
use and the ubiquitous availability that app stores provide, can, if handled right, create a sea change in the consumption of graphic novels — and, if we have our way, the whole thing will have absolutely * nothing * to do with superheroes.
The new
comics can be purchased
using any of the official Kobo
tablets, their main website or bought in one of their many apps
for Android, Blackberry or Windows.
In related news, Amazon released two
comic collections, the Doonsbury and Dilbert
comic strip anthologies,
for the Kindle Fire
tablet using its proprietary Kindle Panel View.
Too bad... sounds like a 500 USD piece of junk... 800 × 600 on that screen size is pointless... needs a stylus... sounds like a
used Kindle DX
for half the price would be prefable
for someone reading PDFs and a
tablet for anyone reading
comic books.
I liked
using my
tablet as an e-reader but more importantly
for full color magazines, newspapers and
comics.
Symbolia is a magazine of graphic journalism designed specifically
for the
tablet; the navigation and pageflow are completely different from anything found in a print magazine, and the
use of the
comics medium opens up new possibilities
for nonfiction storytelling.
