If you first - line indent and
use spacing between paragraphs, you're taking away two tools that could be used elsewhere.
Combine that with the fact that most Kobo ebooks
uses spaces between paragraphs instead of indentations, it really makes for lots of blank space, especially with dialogue.

Using indented
paragraphs after the subheadings created a jumbled, disorganized look, so I tried no indents with about a half line
