So by causing violence to be ascribed to God, and by
using violent religion to «cast out Satan,» Satan had developed the perfect cycle of violence from which there seemed to be no escape.
It may be that Satan casts out Satan to make it look like God winning, when in reality, Satan is
using violent religion to consolidate and amplify his own power.
He uses violent religion to kill the messengers of God, who have been demonized by the religion of power and violence.
In Part 1 and Part 2 of this 3 - Part series on how Satan casts out Satan, we learned that Satan
uses violent religion to attack and kill the messengers of God, and thus, appear to be «casting out Satan» while in reality, he is only solidifying his own power and influence in the world.
Satan turns God's messenger into «Satan,» and then
uses violent religion to destroy this newly minted «Satan.»
But in the crucifixion of Jesus, when Satan tries once again to
use violent religion to «cast out Satan,» this time in the scapegoat of Jesus Christ, Satan did not realize that his plan would backfire.
Not exact matches
In fact, Jesus» harshest words were reserved for the religious elite and self - righteous, who, in many ways, made their
religion violent in that they
used it to exclude and oppress and marginalize.
I personally think the second number is slightly higher than the first — people who would be
violent anyway,
use religion as their excuse — God told them to kill gays, or abortion doctors, or people of another
religion, or atheists or whatever.
Personally, I'd say people are who they are, and if they're
violent, they'll just
use religion as the excuse.
If you want to
use the broad definition of
religion then you must
use the broad definition of violence as being a global phenomenon, not a singular
violent act averted.
But sometimes people
use religion as the excuse not to deal with violence — praying for god to take care of the
violent people, rather than doing something about it themselves.
It is true that there have been those who committed
violent acts in the name of Christianity, but I submit to you they were not true followers of Christ evidenced by their
use of
religion for their own personal gain as they rejected the tenets of their faith as set forth by it's founder.
