redemption chart below, you have many
redemption options beside airfare, but most other options have a very poor
value:

Reading this
chart is simple: if you're redeeming 70,000 Gold Points for one night at a Category 7 Club Carlson property, your imputed
redemption value is $ 308, since that's the
value of the Barclaycard Arrival miles you could have earned with the same $ 14,000 in manufactured spend.
In this light, some of the higher imputed
redemption values in the
charts above are so high it's hard to imagine their relevance.

ANA's program is complicated because of the number of different
charts that apply to various
redemptions, but there are great
values to be had if you invest a little time in thinking about your award
redemption.
You'll get the best
value for you Delta SkyMiles by using them for award flights.Unfortunately Delta no longer publishes an award
chart, which can make it difficult to find the best
redemptions.
There is great
value on Virgin America however, which uses a
value - based
redemption system for its own flights, but can be booked on a distance - based
chart through Hawaiian.
Once you do this, you may come to find that the particular routes you want to fly actually have lower
redemption values than what the
chart says.
Points don't work like airline miles or hotel points, where what you're looking to redeem for is
valued according to a
redemption chart.
With a bit of searching and knowledge of partner award
charts, it is common to achieve
redemption values of 3 - 4 cents per point.
Although that's a good
redemption rate, the best
values are on the SkyTeam award
chart.
So when we find a good
redemption value, it's worth considering burning miles, even if it means using that «evil» next column of the award
chart.
There is
value to be had on this
chart if you look for the short distance
redemptions.
Enrich points don't have the same
value as they did prior to the Award
Chart devaluation, however, if there is a particular
redemption option available, then this may be a worthwhile promotion to participate in.
The
chart below displays the dollar
value you would receive for redeeming a given number of Ultimate Rewards for a variety of
redemptions values.
It's got a number of sweet spots for business class
redemptions and although it's a little tricky due to its different award
charts, exceptions, and lack of online booking, there's some great
value to be had with the program.

Then British Airways devalued the premium side of their

redemptions), and now Amtrak is changing to a revenue - based
redemption program.
The reason is that these
charts ignore
redemption value.
The hybrid model of fixed
value redemptions OR award
chart redemptions would not be bad.

Let's start with a basic
redemption chart that shows the rough
value of each point you earn:
People love Aeroplan because they offer some pretty great
redemption options (90,000 miles for business class to Europe, though they've recently changed their award
chart to be less valuable)-- see here for details, and they love ANA because with their distance - based rewards you can get some great
values (63,000 ANA miles for a business class ticket on Virgin to London which until recently did not require Virgin's outrageous fuel surcharges).

redemptions are found in the category two and three level of the
chart, where points tend to have the highest
values and you can really stretch your points:

It's possible to stretch your points further with a point transfer, since you can look for
values within each airline partner's
redemption chart.
Hyatt's award
chart allows for some great
redemption value opportunities, especially at high - end properties.
For the longhaul awards, you'll almost certainly get the best
value by using airline miles that allow one way
redemptions with the price based on a region - based award
chart.
There are some incredibly high
value partner
redemptions using Etihad miles, mainly flying American Airlines for the same amount of miles that it used to cost on American Airlines» pre-devaluation award
chart.
This Greek Star Alliance carrier has a few things going for it, including generous mileage earning rates on partners and some good
values in its
redemption chart.

value is either surrendered to the insurer or included your death advantages.
