For a more decadent treat, try adding
vanilla powder instead of vanilla extract.
I used European - style butter, namely Kerrygold, and dry
vanilla powder instead of extract (1 tsp), and for the strawberries I put a handful of freeze - dried strawberries in a bag and powdered them with a rolling pin.
You can simply omit the vanilla in the date paste, Renee, or use
vanilla powder instead of vanilla extract.
The vanilla extract may have made the mixture slightly too fluid so I would recommend trying
the vanilla powder instead next time!
