Veganism, for example, can be unbelievably nourishing and rewarding if you interpret it to

diet full of veggies, fruit, quinoa, chickpeas, almonds, green juice etc but refined sugar, white pasta and lots of processed food can also be
vegan and that's not super healthy!

vegan diet, but I sometimes eat honey and will usually accept food prepared for me by others.

I'm not one to follow a

Definition: While the term «raw food»
means food eaten without cooking, in the context of a cancer
diet, a «raw food»
diet is a
vegan type of
diet, where the vast majority of fruits and vegetables that are consumed are known to kill cancer cells, directly or indirectly.
Eating animal products
means less room for antioxidant - rich foods (plants) in the
diet, whereas eating a
vegan diet does not
mean less room for B12 intake (obtained very easily with a supplement).
What you really
mean is the right specific type of
vegan diet can be healthy.
I watched another video on here about
vegan buddist nuns and that was a good indicator that low (er) calcium
diet does not necessarily
mean calcium deficiency.
Too often vegetarian /
vegan doesn't
mean a healthy
diet.
So yes, animal products are bad (on so many levels, including diabetes), but that doesn't
mean that any old
vegan diet will work either.
At Parsley we fall in between the two camps, and advocate for a plant - based - paleo (PBP) style
diet, which
means focusing on protein, greens and healthy fat on every plate, and avoiding refined carbs and trigger foods like gluten and dairy, whether you're a
vegan yogi or the guy obsessed with the odd cuts from the pig roast.
If you follow a strictly
vegan diet,
meaning you consume absolutely no animal foods — no meat, poultry, fish, dairy, or eggs — some of these nutrients may be impossible to obtain from your
diet.
But, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that although I believe a low - fat
vegan diet is excellent for reversing and curing many chronic diseases, that does NOT
mean that it's the right
diet for everyone.
I realize that this is anecdotal, but I was able to ride my own cholesterol numbers down from 203 to 166 by
means of dietary intervention on my journey from omnivore to
vegan; which was originally unintended, yet logical destination; by first eliminating beef, pork and lamb; then to chicken skin removal, eliminating chicken altogether, fish off the menu until the only animal products left in my
diet were a hard boiled egg, sliced, or 4 oz of poached shrimp, and sometimes both.
Remember that a
vegan diet does not necessarily

diet.

mean to the exclusion of animal products — but since this
diet DOES intent to exclude all animal products, what is wrong with it being called a
vegan's argument for not eating meat?
Of course, like our chat before,
vegan, doesn't
mean a healthy and balanced
diet, it's important to take these things in to consideration and eat as much of a variety as possible to get an array of nutrients!
