Love the recipes, but vegetable shortening doesn't really work for me or most paleo / primal dieters.

If I didn't have coconut oil, I would probably try
vegetable shortening or vegan butter before trying adding an oil.
Two cups of

I don't think an oil that is liquid at room temperature would work well... maybe use a
vegetable shortening (like crisco) instead?
The recipe I'd been using didn't have the brown sugar or
vegetable shortening.
But if you don't want to use
vegetable shortening, you can replace it with an equal amount of butter.

I made this recipe with my «lil helper last Sunday and if you've ever cooked with a toddler you know how difficult it becomes to pay attention to what you are
doing while said toddler is loading up on handfuls of
vegetable shortening and granulated sugar.
Bottom line: Don't eat fats like
Vegetable oil, peanut oil, canola oil, soybean oil, margarine,
shortening or other chemically altered fats.
This Omega fat imbalance can be YET another reason why
vegetable oils lead to heart disease, cancer, obesity, and many other degenerative diseases that WILL
shorten your life significantly if you don't cut out the
vegetable oils ASAP.

do is insert a wick in the middle: lip balm tins, shoe polish or
