version of the energy bill — a brawl that even President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were not able to prevent, despite efforts last
week to make peace between the warring Republican chairs of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee, who are overseeing negotiations on the tax - related aspects of the energy bill.
