It's difficult to blame Ozil for the difficulties he's faced at Arsenal without looking at the big picture... like the fans, he too was lied to by Wenger... there is no doubt in my mind that he was told by Wenger that he was trying desperately to recreate our earlier success by acquiring players that fit the system he ran when Henry was in his prime... as we know this hasn't happened... in order for Ozl to flourish he needs some speed up front, forwards that can make intelligent runs, a boss in the midfield to compensate for his obvious defensive liabilities and defenders who can transition from defence to offence quickly and efficiently... much like he had in Real and with the German National squad... unfortunately he ended up on a squad that has a striker who plays with his back to goal, very few intelligent runs into the box, minus Sanchez, no one to take pressure off him in the midfield, once Cazorla was injured, average defensive midfielders around him, which simply highlighted his lacking defensive qualities and defenders who lack the necessary cutting edge when it comes to transitional passing... instead of blaming Ozil, which is simply too easy, especially considering his mopey disposition, we should be asking ownership and / or Wenger why they brought him in if they didn't intend on doing what was necessary to get the best from him... can you imagine Ozil playing with the likes of Henry, Viera, Petit and Pires, it would be incredibly to watch and even more difficult to stop... so the only thing different between his experiences in Real and with the German team versus his time at Arsenal are the players around him and we all know who is in charge of making those decisions, the Grinch who stole soccer

I really do feel for AW he knows that Giroud's goalscoring abilities are very limited this puts him in a very tricky situation to either go for another average striker and hope he can complement Giroud or jump into the pool (falcao, cavani and Co) and fight to spend bigtime big on either of them
but the difference in getting him unlike Vardy is if he does not produce we are mot exactly short on the middle and we have alternatives unlike the Vardy deal, where we are on serious need and very very short; we have to get that striker role right so we can not afford to gamble om a one.dimensional average player who just so happen to have an exceptional season....

Sometimes i do nt understand some people saying thing like Benzema is not what we need and that he is not that good.Some people lack reasoning to be very honest.They do nt think before talking.I wonder why people say that because when you watched him from his first season up to this season he really is that good.Some arsenal legends are saying we need him almost everyone is saying so too.We need him and stop judging his character because you have no right to judge anyone.Giroud is an average striker and i am not judging him from yesterday's game i am judging him from season 1 to this season.He is nothing special and has never been.
What you said is very true.Ozil makes our strikers look half decent.In fact we expect average players to look better when they are surrounded with world class players.He's definitely not been consistent but to get the best out of him he needs players who can finish or else he's useless.It's good Wenger has brought in Lacazette who's actually the only good finisher out of our three strikers.
I'm with you there mate.He's just an average player beign given many chances.A lot of average strikers can even do better because of the chances Arsenal creates.There are some strikers who are not top quality but have very good finishing that if given the same seasons and chances Giroud has had they can do better.I hate it when they make it seem like only world class strikers are better than him.He's really only improved from season 14/15 honestly speaking.He used to be so bad and waste a lot of chances.It's just that become can not see the fact that he's not as good as they think.We will surely be vindicated by his performance for another club.
I thought people here were debating about two or three seasons back why he should be our top striker.When I thought the Monaco match was the icing on the cake to show how average he was it seems just like Wenger we» will never learn our lesson.Now people our okay with him being a super sub which is debatable.Giroud was a super sub in games last season because he wasn't played when he was supposed to.He's not your ideal super sub because he very hardly creates but rather requires people to create for him.Most of the time super subs are the one's who tend to create the chances and open up spaces in the opposition defence.West ham are ready to pay and hence we should demand more from them.We can then use the money from his sale on far better players.Given the same seasons, time and chances a lot of average strikers can do better than what he did.This is because Arsenal create a lot of chances and it just needs someone who can finish.Goodbye!.
Giroud is a striker but not good at scoring, not good at defending, not a very good as sister, he is plain average.

He is not a quality striker because he makes a lot of mistakes in his game.The fact that he scores 20 goals does not mean he is a quality back up striker.It is one thing to be a goal scorer and another thing to be a good or average player.Goal scoring is a very important aspect of a player but not the only aspect.Trust me you can score 20 goals in all competitions and still be average.If Chamakh, Gervinho and all the so called flops scored this same goals they would still have been considered not good enough for Arsenal.His game is just not good enough and I for one believe even if no one believes that we can get a backup striker who is better than him and also a top centre forward.Its all about mentality and willingness.Forget his goals and look at his game or else you'll force me to bring up strikers in the world who have scored his same goals and are even considered terrible.
Imo he is one of the best «number 10's» in the world, his position is right behind the striker, a CAM as you say — Yet since he has come he has played LW for the first season, CAM for the second (Surprise surprise he almost broke the PL record for assists, and that was with very average finishers in front of him) and now he seems to be playing as a RW?
«If's buts and maybe's» you said it and you are right... But you can not deny that you stand a better chance to score goals with WC or even very good strikers than average striker (probability wise)... and it is still long way to go...
@almostawinner I totally agree with you we are good at creating chances we reach very good positions but giroud is less than average he won't even play at some mid-tables teams beleive me he can't dribble he rarely take long ranged shots he is not the best at movement I don't understand what do arsene wenger see in him to rely on him as our first choice We were going to get a striker three years ago (higuain) but the deal failed in the last second because wenger prefered to get ozil so what did giroud do to prove that he deserves his position can anybody tell me I really get mad when some arsenal fans tell that he is a good player because he is not!!
Hahaha pepes here saying Benzema is not significantly better than Giroud.i do not even want to go to stats.Firstly lets talk about finishing, Giroud finishing is not really that good at all.He misses a lot of chances.He most at times needs many chances to score and all also misses sitters too much.his shot accuracy too ai nt that good at all.This makes him an average finisher.Secondly, lets go to his dribbling abilities.every player has his own limitations.Giroud has average dribbling.there are many times if he could beat a player he would have been through on goal but since he cant he just waits for support denying the team a chance to score in most cases.Average dribbler.In addition, hold up play, Giroud holds up the ball really well, however, this does not work in all cases against physically strong defenders and also very intelligent defenders his hold up play suffers a lot.so for hold up play he is ok.i could go on and on my word this striker is not good at all do nt you watch him or you want to use his stats.ah!

he can tun fast in a straight line... does not have clinical finishing or a strikers instinct... Constantly offside even against slow defences... With everyone around us underperforming if we had bought the striking options we needed in summer we would be comfortably ahead of pack by now as it is we are 5 ahead of a very average spurs team
Yh right.Dont talk like that its irritating like the are no strikers out there better than him.It is a saying that the truth will set you free.Giroud is on the level of average but arsenal have made him look very good only a few will see it.Those who actually watch his every move even without the ball and on it.If i mention the strikers i will take over Giroud some of you here will call me stupid.Listen if Wenger cant sign a striker he should just get Charlie Austin he can finish off chances and he is a good striker, He can be world class if he works hard.Only a matter of time before he proves to the world what they have been but its like just his name does not excite fans.He is even light ahead of Giroud and a neutral would be saying the same thing if he was watching them on tv always.
There are lot of average strikers who in that 2012 we signed him could have done equally what he has done or even better.There is a reason why no club wants him.We wont miss him when we sell and i just hope we get what we need.I'm tired of criticizing someone who is playing to his max potential and is still very average.I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired I tell ya.
