The series was, and continues to be, beautifully directed by Jonathan Krisel, who brings a
cinematic quality that when combined with the Galifianakis» physical comedy creates something unique and
very charming, even when its story falters.
With bulletproof performances of Cliff Robertson (Charly) and Geneviève Bujold (Anne of the Thousand Days), De Palma told a highly
cinematic, Hitchcockian mystery with style, class and more than enough unique
quality for the film to be able to stand solidly on its own feet, regardless of the similarities it shares with Vertigo, an inspiration that both De Palma and his screenwriter Paul Schrader acknowledged from the
very get - go.
The writing doesn't really impress so far, delivering a dry slice of narrative that
very clearly was never intended to be delivered in episodic form, but the
quality of the
cinematics and the excellent voice was superb.
But Uncharted changed my opinion with a
very direct
cinematic approach and brilliant set pieces that set a standard of
quality for the games that followed in the trilogy.
