the very early days of the internet when most travel information was just pamphlets posted online.

I don't know why this happens since I'm
very grateful to be in the position I'm in these
days, but waking up
early to shoot my breakfast reminds me
of when I did something totally out
of character and started this corner
of the
internet.
It's unlikely that you'll come across many angels who will lay out their entire life histories, warts and all, right at the beginning, but it's also
very unlikely that you'll be unfortunate enough to come across any axe - wielding psychopaths or the stereotypical man masquerading as a woman - or vice-versa (most
of those seem to have run off with Netscape in the
early days of the
Internet).
What most authors discovered, however, is that without access to bookstore shelves, or a reliable way to get in front
of readers (these were the
early days of the
Internet — no social media and
very little in the way
of popular blogging), you were pretty much wasting your time.
It's worth asking why it is that — given that Project Gutenberg has been around since the
earliest days of the
Internet — we haven't seen a large embrace
of reading on screens until
very recently.
My interest in games goes back to the
early days of the
internet, when I founded one
of the
very first video game websites for women, GameGal.com, in 1998.
