After making his first team debut against Aston Villa at
the very end of last season, many of us are hoping that Mauricio Pochettino gives Pritchard a chance but it seems that a number of Championship clubs could be hovering.

In 2015 Arsenal only just pinched second place in the League by the skin

I said the same thing about Arsenal sometime near the
end of last season, that playing just to qualify for UCL could proof
very dangerous, in that should we just happen to mss out on UCL, then all hell will break loose in trying to obtain good players the following
season.
Having not kicked a ball in anger for Arsenal since we were held to a no score draw by Chelsea at the
end of April as they cruised to the Premier League title
last season, Danny Welbeck is understandably being treated with kid gloves by Arsene Wenger and the medical staff, but the England international forward is getting
very close to being able to play for us again.
Like 3 -4-2-1, who knew it worked
very well in the
last ten games at the
end of the
last season?
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety
of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style
of play has become a shadow
of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out
of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players,
very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid
of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out
of our own
end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes
of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play
of Monreal, but none
of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio
of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better
last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed
last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off -
season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part
of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part
of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature
of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front
end, we have Ozil, a player
of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out
of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front
of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that,
of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the
season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one
of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one
of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already
of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs
of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack
of mobility is an albatross around the necks
of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because
of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
i think this could officially be the start

Before
last season there were
very few people outside
of Arsenal circles that had heard
of Alex Iwobi, but after breaking into the Gunners first team towards the
end of last season, he is now practically an automatic selection for Arsene Wenger.
Our back four was
very table with him at left back towards the
end of last season.
But when the fans had their chance at the Emirates at the
end of last season they responded by singing «And it's Arsene Wenger...» «No titles are us» is deeply ingrained at Arsenal FC because the Owner, the Board, the Manager, the Players and the fans are all
very happy not competing for the title.
If I had a pound for every time time Arsene Wenger or any
of the Arsenal players said «cohesion» since the
end of last season I would be a
very rich man, but what does it actually mean?
They
ended the
season by winning 32
of their
last 36 games, which isn't something you can do unless you have the
very best players.
After we gave Chelski a good spanking
last season in probably Conte's fifth or sixth game in charge he immediately re organised them and went through till the new year unbeaten. He had them
very solid at the back and scoring goals for fun.And all this with a squad
of players he inherited and their top striker Costa wanting Away. They
ended up romping to the Premiere League Title scoring loads more goals and conceding far less than Wengers Arsenal. We by the way are treading water at best this
season and would not bet on us finishing above Chelski even allowing for the
season they are having.
No I've been saying for a long time that this will be wenger
last contract and even if he wins cl or prem he will still leave no matter what, I am excited about wen we get a new manager and move forward from wenger but it wouldn't bother me one bit if he sees he's contract out or if a new manager comes at the
end of the
season I'm just happy we as a club are financialy in a
very good position and the future is bright for us gooners
It is going to be a
very interesting, yet challenging,
last few month this
season, but when the
end of May does come around, all that has been decided or is yet to be decided regarding Arsene Wenger, will become clear.
This reduced list certainly gave Wenger some selection headaches towards the
end of last season, and if they all stay fit then we certainly have a
very large contingent and Wenger seems
very unconcerned about bringing in any more additions.
Wenger simply bought what we lacked at the
end of last season And that is a pacey striker and winger, who can run at defenses and dribble, along with
very good finishing.
With over a month
of the summer transfer window still to go I would say that the Arsenal and England international star Jack Wilshere has just enough time to prove to Arsene Wenger that he is worth keeping at Arsenal for the
season to come and so his return to training after the leg fracture he suffered while on loan with AFC Bournemouth towards the
end of last season is
very timely.
Our little English terrier Jack Wilshere seems to have recovered
very quickly from his hairline fracture sustained at the
end of last season, and has rejoined the squad in training ahead
of the Emirates Cup.
The
last few games Giroud started we won or drew but they were struggles and we played poor and although that is not all on Giroud it was
very much Arsenal
of last season when we
ended up with 71 points.
Arsenal have added Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac to their evergrowing wage bill this summer, as well as increasing the size
of their squad, which Arsene Wenger already described as «heavy» at the
end of last season. It would appear that Alex Oxlade - Chamberlain has refused to sign his new contract with the Gunners, and this has left Wenger a
very big dilemma, especially after stating categorically that the Ox would be «100 %» playing for Arsenal this
season.
Just as we did
last season, Arsenal added the Community Shield to the FA cup and although the Spaniard is well aware that this pre-
season game does not mean a lot when the serious business
of the Premier League begins, Arteta believes that the
end of our wait for a win over a Jose Mourinho side could prove to be
very significant.
It sort
of work towards the
end of last season cos Chamberlain was deployed as our wingback and Monreal manning the other wing but now with Bellerin and Kolasinac (
very predictable players with no set skills) it's affecting us seriously.
I would like to see theo play the full
season up front providing be doesn't get injured he looked
very sharp towards the
end of last season Wenger should invest in another dm but now that carvalho is injured I don't know if there are any others (wanyama?)
Let's hope that Iwobi continues his improvement from the
last campaign, when he was the only breath
of fresh air in a
very depressing
end of season....
Monreal clearly feels that there is a great team spirit and sense
of togetherness in the Arsenal dressing room, with no little cliques
of certain players, and he believes that this has been
very beneficial and even essential to the way the Gunners have performed over the
last few
seasons,
ending the long wait for a trophy and now getting into a great position to challenge for the big prize
of the Premier League title.
Yes, that's true and it is
very obvious to a blind man too.buh the same thing happened
last season and chelsea made good use
of it.they stayed top from beginning to the
end We have to do the same cos we have more stable than most teams and the team cohesion is strong.no excuse at all
and after great
end to there miserable start
of last season they ll be
very high on confidence so it is prudent that we dunt take them lightly nd we field a team with proper defence
Hartlepool have had a
very chaotic
season these past two years, as Pools
ended their 96 year run in the Football League
last season, being relegated on the final day
of the
season, despite winning at home over Doncaster Rovers.
This time
last month Arsenal were still
very much in the Premier League title race and
very much looking forward to the
end of a
season that was looking
very promising.
The Saints could hand a first start
of the
season to Virgil van Dijk after he came on at the
very end of the 1 - 0 win at Crystal Palace
last weekend for his first start
of the
season.
The team who make a mountain out
of a molehill, the same side which couldn't beat Blackpool in their
very last home fixture and the team which hasn't won in the league since the
end of August, when Fernando Torres awoke from his slumber for the first and only time this
season to score the winner in a fortunate 1 - 0 success at Anfield.
I, along with many others, was handed a rude awakening
last Saturday when Everton, who seemingly have
very little to play for between now and the
end of the
season, thrashed a Wolves side who were in desperate need
of points at Molineux
last Saturday.
Yesterday, I had initially written out and prepared a post about how the
end of Arsenal's transfer window this summer
very much mirrored our performances on the pitch
last season.
We had a bad experience at Liverpool, so you always think «should we change everything from a system that we did
very well with at the
end of last season?»
The Eagles narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship at the
end of last season, but there is a
very serious and tangible danger that their luck will run out this campaign.
He actually played as a defensive midfielder in the
very last game
of the 06/07
season against Portsmouth which
ended 0 - 0.
I raced the normal cross country
season (3 - 4 races) and showed some flashes
of success in workouts and such but
ended the
season very poorly (extremely heavy during
last 2 races).
If the
last two episodes
of the first
season which were the best
of the
season tense and
ending very interesting if it continues down that road should be good.
I had one at the
end of the
season last year and one at the beginning
of the
season, which I consider really
very,
very good — where we put four electric chairs
of Andy Warhol with a Stella and with a Lichtenstein, which looked just so beautiful.
