I think that there is
very substantial uncertainties about the effects of solar radiation management technologies.
The entertainment value comes in reading the description of
very substantial uncertainties, and then seeing «very high confidence».

Her current research project, again in Malawi, explores explanations for maternal death in a context in which mortality rates are
very high while the
uncertainties surrounding any given death are
substantial.
How then, and why, have climate scientists come to a consensus about a
very complex scientific problem that the scientists themselves acknowledge has
substantial and fundamental
uncertainties?
Society faces
very substantial scientific
uncertainty, which is the root cause of the scientific disagreements.
The
very high significance levels of model - observation discrepancies in LT and MT trends that were obtained in some studies (e.g., Douglass et al., 2008; McKitrick et al., 2010) thus arose to a
substantial degree from using the standard error of the model ensemble mean as a measure of
uncertainty, instead of the standard deviation or some other appropriate measure of ensemble spread.

uncertainty arising from internal climate variability... Nevertheless, almost all model ensemble members show a warming trend in both LT and MT larger than observational estimates (McKitrick et al., 2010; Po - Chedley and Fu, 2012; Santer et al., 2013).
Dr. Judith Curry: The
uncertainties in ocean heat content below 700 m are
very substantial, see http://judithcurry.com/2014/01/21/ocean-heat-content-
uncertainties/... The role of internal ocean behavior in climate change was almost completely neglected up the AR4; the AR5 takes it a bit more seriously.
While such «tipping points» (Kemp, 2005) are impossible to identify without
substantial uncertainties, they may lead to irreversible effects such as biodiversity loss or, at the
very least, impacts that have a slow recovery (e.g., on soils and corals).
The issue of tropospheric temperature trends is
very difficult and has received a great deal of attention by researchers and also assessment reports; the problems are much worse for humidity and few people have even attempted to do anything with tropospheric humidity trends owing to inaccuracies in the radiosonde humidity measurements and
substantial uncertainties in the satellite retrievals.
Although the most advanced theoretical climate models still leave
uncertainty, particularly about the sign and magnitudes of the effects, on GHG feedbacks, of some low - and high - clouds, a consensus began to develop that threats of resulting increases in global temperature — and the
very large risks associated with their possible consequences — deserved
substantial increase in attention.
Most organizations are
very familiar with
uncertainty of many different kinds and even qualitative guidance can have
substantial value in the design of robust adaptation strategies which minimize vulnerability to both climate variability and change.
