The most recent
works included in the exhibition, the Rag and Bag Idiom series (2012), feature Outterbridge's characteristic found textiles painted an array of
vibrant colors.
The retrospective will
include vibrant new paintings of the artist's home and garden in Los Angeles, which will be united for the first time with earlier
works depicting the same subject across 35 years.
The exhibition is drawn primarily from the collection of the Shanghai Art Museum, one of the most
vibrant centres in the increasingly dynamic Chinese contemporary art scene; the exhibition will also
include a number of
works borrowed directly from the participating artists.

vibrant new Mission scene that took root in the 1990s through the present,
including Barry McGee and Chris Johanson.
Curated by senior curatorial assistant Laura Phipps and curatorial assistant Nicholas Robbins, the show
includes pieces by a
vibrant array of young artists like Michele Abeles, Tauba Auerbach, Mathew Cerletty, Leslie Hewitt, Meredyth Sparks, Lucy Raven, Nick Mauss, and Kaari Upson, ranging from photography to ceramic
work.
Other highlights
include the humorous
work of Sean - McGee Phetsarath, the
vibrant compositions of Clark Goolsby, an evocative installation by Mario Wagner, and the imaginative paintings of Harley Lafarrah Eaves and A. Savage.
This survey of a rich and diverse artistic production is a celebration of both his

includes working with Spike Milligan, The Beatles and Ken Russell) and his art which reveals telling links with the visual culture of the last 60 years.
