Considering just how well - received the 2013
video game reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise was - which told a similar origin story - like tale for Lara Croft - it doesn't come as much of a surprise that this new take on the character would pick up with her at the start of her adventuring days.

Lara Croft's adventure continues in the sequel to the 2013 Tomb Raider
video game reboot, Rise
of the Tomb Raider.
Today, 20th Century Fox released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming
video game movie
reboot of the Hitman series.
And Scarface has had its share
of remakes and
reboots in the form
of hip hop tributes, two
video games, a novel titled Scarface: The Beginning, and an IDW graphic novel Scarface: Scarred for Life.
WHY: After unsuccessfully adapting the popular «Hitman»
video game series with the 2007 film
of the same name, 20th Century Fox decided to give it one more go by
rebooting the franchise with a brand new cast.
If they can capture the same feeling that the
video game stirred up in players, then they might have a pretty decent
reboot on their hands — thus making Ridley the reigning queen
of reboots, I suppose.
Unfortunately, Hollywood's record
of adapting
video game franchises for the big screen hasn't improved in any notable way since then, making this Tomb Raider
reboot feel like just as much
of an uncertainty as ever.
There will,
of course, be multiple hurdles that the studio will have to face along the way - but following the release
of two critically - acclaimed installments in the original Tomb Raider
video game franchise (over the past three to four years) and there's nothing but good will surrounding the
reboot right now.
They've also announced dates for some forthcoming films like the sequels to Fifty Shades
of Grey, and also shifted some films arriving over the next few years, such as the
video game adaptation Warcraft from Duncan Jones, the sci - fi sequel Pacific Rim 2 from Guillermo del Toro and the first official movie that kicks off Universal's classic movie monsters franchise
reboot, The Mummy.
Similar to the general trajectory
of the 2013
video game reboot, Vikander revealed that Tomb Raider will pick up with Lara as a girl stuck in a day job in London, who journeys into the unknown after an unlikely clue hints at the possible survival
of her presumed - dead father:
The most interesting notion that the new «Tomb Raider»
reboot has to offer apparently comes from the 2013 reimagining
of the original»90s
video game: It gives us a Lara Croft who's capable but not superhuman, making her more like Bruce Willis» legendary John McClane (in the first few «Die Hard» movies, anyway) than the usual impenetrable war machines who so often anchor action flicks and
video games.
Perhaps that's why he so often finds projects disintegrate in front
of his eyes, whether it's his third Hellboy movie, a high profile adaptation
of H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains
of Madness, or his involvement in the promising cancelled Silent Hill
video game reboot alongside the Guillermo Del Toro
of gaming, Hideo Kojima.
Rebooted as a
video game in 2013, it was only going to be a matter
of time before Hollywood had another crack at turning Tomb Raider into a viable movie franchise.

game was also a big favorite amongst critics, topping many best
of the year lists and even helping to renew Hollywood's interest in basing a new Tomb Raider film, starring Alicia Vikander (Jason Bourne) as Lara Croft, on the

The Tomb Raider
video game franchise has seen new life since its gritty and realistic
reboot from which the film draws its inspiration from, but the first Tomb Raider trailer - like many
of our «first looks» at 2018 movies so far - and poster failed to impress.
