views of women in ministry, the end times, abortion, creation vs. evolution, the method of baptism, dress code, drinking alcohol, gettting tattoos, style of music, playing cards, smoking, evangelistic methods, political involvement, etc..

of the Roman Empire to have become the man he did, attracting what looked like flash -
in - the - pan attention during his brief years
of ministry, unknown to most
of his contemporaries and
viewed as an upstart, a wonder - worker, or a fanatic by most
of those who knew about him, dying a felon's death deserted by most
of his close and trusted friends with the incredible rumor then circulated that he had risen again — what chance had he
of any lasting fame?
So, on this
view, if someone disagrees with them about the millennium, about infant baptism, about the role
of women in ministry, they are quickly labeled a heretic.
Earliest Christianity began as a renewal movement within Judaism brought into being through Jesus.22 The examples
of Jesus, his radical and revolutionary action against the Jewish social and religious norms, indeed became a challenge to
women and for
women in their
ministry.23 His attitude to
women is one that is radical particularly when
viewed in the light
of his historical context.

of this, I used to laugh at churches with the
view that
women weren't created for
ministry, that biblical submission meant the man was
in charge and somehow had ownership
of his wife, and that being a wife and a mother was a
woman's sole purpose.
There is little
in the undisputed epistles that could be seen as misogynist, indeed Paul's
view of marriage is remarkable for its equal treatment
of husband and wife and the recognition
of the
ministry of women.
