vigorous physical activity each day and encourages healthy choices among students.

A 2014 study [1] by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), a part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), found that only about a quarter (24.8 %) of youth aged 12 to 15 years engaged in moderate - to -
vigorous physical activity,
including activities both in school and outside of school, for at least 60 minutes daily.
Health behaviours
included smoking (never, former, current), alcohol intake (none: ≤ 1 unit / weeks, moderate, heavy: ≥ 14 units / week) self - reported
physical activity (
vigorous, moderate and non / mild) 40 and duration of sleep (5 categories from ≤ 5 hours to ≥ 9 hours / day).

included the participants with a score of 63.5 or more; high
physical activity included the participants who had moderate intensity to
vigorous activities 5 or more times per week.
In addition to steps, the researchers measured levels of moderate - to -
vigorous physical activity and health outcomes,
including weight, systolic (top number) blood pressure, aerobic capacity and quality of life.
The covariates
included race / ethnicity (non-Hispanic white, non-Hispanic black, Mexican American, or other), educational attainment (< 12, 12, or > 12 years of education), smoking status (never, former, or current), alcohol consumption (0, < 3, or ≥ 3 drinks / wk),
physical activity (0, < 5, or ≥ 5 times / wk of moderate - intensity to
vigorous activities), BMI (< 25, 25 to < 30, or ≥ 30), family history of CVD (yes / no), and antihypertensive medication use (yes / no).
Moreover, a 2014 Public Health England report found that the amount of moderate to
vigorous physical activity students engaged with at 11 years of age had an effect on academic performance across English, maths and science,
including final GCSE exam results, with active students found to achieve up to 20 per cent higher results than non ‑ active students.
