in prison, with their friendship blossoming through their shared
love of marmalade.
The film has significantly less interest
in providing something fresh beyond its fabulous pastiche — the actual
story is rather familiar and sometimes a dull distraction, from Sofia Boutella's French spy stalker /
love interest to some fairly incongruous
villain side -

I
loved Kevin Kline as Belle's father, he brings the warmth to the character and despite Gaston being very much the
villain of the
story, Luke Evans made him quite likable at moments, especially the pub scenes, which makes you want to join
in on the song!
Its not like the others with the same
story of how the
villains die at the end and all the good guy lives but they made a twist
in the movie which I
love!!
We're introduced to a supporting cast who could normally knock your socks off at ten paces (John C Reilly, Ben Whishaw & Ashley Jensen) but they disappear from the
story and the screen when Farrell escapes into nearby woods where he falls
in love with Rachel Weisz who delivers the single most monotone & depressing voiceover throughout the film I've ever heard and struggles against Lea Seydoux as the tiresome «
villain» of the piece.
